Programmamble Command Module

I had an idea today about a possibility of a programmable command module for the ships in Eve.

Basically, the new module would allow a player to write a short, basic set of commands that their ship would follow when the module is active.

For example: A player could write a command that sets the ship to automatically warp to the nearest station, or warp-able location if an enemy starts to target the ship (good for solo-mining operations).

Or it could be programmed to search all ship wrecks within a certain radius.

Or perhaps it could tell the ship to move in a certain fashion during combat, leaving the player to focus on the weaponry and defenses.

I think that a module such as this may not only add new playstyles to the game, but possibly a new Eve career as an in-game programmer, selling effective command moules at high prices.

A couple more ideas that crossed my mind was manual controlls for a ship, and a ****-pit camera view, although Im willing to bet these have been requested before.

No I don't want you do have anything that inputs commands for you. This module breaks the ELUA anyway.

Strong opinions already, fair enough. I dont think I was very clear on my idea.

OK the programming bit may be a bit of a poor shot, but toning it back a bit, how about using a series of pre-defined functions (if you are familiar with the gameplay of FF-XII, the gambit system would be a good example). And as for the bots, the module would have a very limited command set, and would take up power slots on the ship (so at worst, you'd have a bot with no weaponry).

Still don't like it. Just accept this idea is unsalvagable.

No idea is unsalvageable, but obviously certain minds cant be moved either. I'll just leave this here then.

This idea is still bad, and some ideas are in fact unsalvageable. this is one of them.

One of the problems with games in general is the use of bots to gain advantage over people who actually play. This idea is bad because it promotes the use of bots. While its true that it is open for everyone to use (in this idea) think of what it will do to the economy. in hisec or in null hundreds of bot miners that are doing ice or ore, dropping the price of minerals and expanding the use of supers.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

CCP is currently trying to fight auto-mated actions with in the game (Botting).. and someone requests for a mod that would allow you input a series of commands to create auto-mated actions on ship....

Hmm sounds like a botter is requesting for more botting power to me, or make it legal.. Where is the Dislike thread killing button when you need one!

I hope someone makes you ship spin for suggesting this. i Mean Really come on Read through the dev blogs and forums before posting, Get to know the community, and type of game play.

In reference to FX-11 gambits..

I set up a party of 3 and left the machine running for 16 hours, boom max level in the first 20 hours of gameplay.

So yeah.. gambits = bots.

I would like a function to play a custom sound file when targeted so you get more that just the standard whoop whoop noise.

If you look around I believe there are guides on how to do that. It is just a sound file that gets pulled and played, should be relatively easy to swap it out for a different sound clip of equal length.

I nominate "Hey Listen!" from Zelda. /shudders
