I find myself with a pressing need to lose a bunch of rifters. If I wanted to find some solo PVP, where would I go?

It seems unlikely that I'll get any good fights on gates in lowsec, as anyone gate-camping there will be tough enough to tank the gate guns, and by extension my puny rifter.

It seems even less likely that I'll get a fair fight in nullsec, or even survive long enough to reach null.

So, when you're just looking for frigate fights, where do you go?

Solo with a rifter?

Not many places, I'm afraid. RvB might be able to help you.

I haven't had much luck in null aside from being ass-raped, but then again I don't head into null that much. In low-sec it takes some effort, but it's not that hard to find fights. Just fly around, get familiar with your d-scan, and see who's out there. Before you know it you'll be fighting for your "life". Set up a route using DOTLAN and make some runs. Deviate from the plan. Roam. Make bookmarks. Have fun. I've heard smacking local helps too, but I usually ignore local unless I'm "gf"ing or seeing who's there.

FWIW, I low-sec PvP solo in frigates almost exclusively (and tend to lose). Fights are out there, you just have to be patient.

If you're looking for a grind, or "instant action", then Substance is probably right and RvB is your best bet.

Leaves only the fresh scent of pine.

I guess Red vs Blue may just what you are looking for:

I haven't tried it myself, but it's generally high sec pvp with people who want to pvp rather than just farm kills.

I guess RvB would be an option.
From what I hear it's not solo PvP though - I've never tried it, so I could be wrong.

If you go for low sec you'd definately would not to shoot people on gates, unless you get them to aggress you first, which is unlikely as your intended victimsmost likely are more interested in getting the F out of there rather than shoot at you. And you poor Rifter will not survive the gate guns (trust me, I tried Big smile ).

Go roam the belts in low sec - you might find people half not aware of what they're doing. Or if you feel adventerous, go to botting space (look for DRF space with extreme numbers of npc kills on Dotlan) and harass the botters, they'll eventually get used to you and you may get a few kills (and smacked to hell in local, as well as sampling tears in mails).

Though the activity has kinda dropped off in my neck of the woods;

Faction warefare areas have complexes ( found with yout onboard scanner) where you can loiter around in your rifter and wait for fights to find you ( and they will ).

You can either roam the FW areas and park around the Plex gates or Join FW and earn LP while capping 'defensive' Plex's.

if the system isn't completely empty, you will get a frigate fight. Just use your DSCAN and bail if something beyond your capabilities pops up on a short range scan. Dramiels for example I'd avoid until you get more comfortable and want to push your rifters capabilities.

as an alternative to the FW plex's, you could warp to just about any celestial at range, start aligning to another celestial and often someone will be popping in for a fight and you will have the option to warp off or turn around and have a go.

Unlike the Plex's however, celestials will eventually attract the attention of some Cloaky T3 etc, so keep your speed up while aligning and keep an eye on dscan for probes. Larger ships may try to drop in for a quick friagte snack but as in the plex, if you see them approaching via dscan you have the option to bug out at whim.

Some nights will be slow, some nights it will be real active so try to make sure you keep your stack of rifters close to the low sec patch your roaming.

Happy hunting o/

The systems of Rancer, Amamake and Old Man Star can be a lot of fun - sometimes you'll get ganked by large groups, but sometimes you'll find some good 1v1 and 1v2 fights.

Search the forums for a post called "Frigfry Fridays" - it's a monthly all-day frigate fight event that takes place the first Friday of the month, in Amamake.

Occasionally you can find some good solo fun in NPC null sec space. Solitude, Great Wildlands, and Syndicate are all good areas.

Hope this helps!

The Factional Warfare warzone. Despite the prevalence of Dramiels and such, there are a lot of frigates about, including random stealth bomber mission runners who make very good hunting targets. But generally roaming low-sec and hanging out in belts or at planets also works. There are a number of people around who like frigate dogfighting, you just have to find them.

Rifters are so cheap that you can try and go for pretty much anything just to see how it goes. Finding some random solo gate camper with sentries on them and tackling them with a Rifter until the sentries blow them up is fun, too.

Try to avoid the heavily-populated systems (Amamake, Rancer, etc.), they tend to have large pirate groups who love to bring in friends. That happens elsewhere, too, but Ama-gank-me isn't named that way for nothing. In any case, you'll get ganked a few times. It happens.

When you have unknown people in local, keep an eye on the d-scan so you don't get surprised by big ships if you wait in belts, at planets or in plexes. Play your advantages - bait for an engagement at a planet 50 AU from the next gate so their support takes too long to get to you, etc. There are plenty of ways to play your strengths, but it will not always work. You take a risk by engaging anyone - you can't avoid that risk, you can just minimize it.

Also, a bit about attitude. Always remember that EVE is not about "fair fights" - everyone is out to get you with as many advantages as they can. Your job is to get them before their advantages come into play. Never cry about "blobbing" or "cheating" - simply get on with life. It's better for your own sanity and everyone else's sanity, too :-)

Well it depends upon the level of risk you are willing to take. But there are a few options you might try:

1. Low sec - yeah you cant agress people first on gates unless they have very low security status. You can find people mining or ratting though if you look hard enough. Sooner or later, however, you may run into a gate camp and get smoked. The faction war fare plexes mentioned earlier are a good place to look. If you scan for anomolies in systems where you see a bunch of npc wrecks on d-scan you might get lucky as well.

2. Null sec - more risk. You might, and probably will, get podded frequently roaming 0.0. Large gate blobs are typical especially on regional gates. Watch out for bubbles. Learn how to avoid them. Lots of people do stupid things in null sec and you can often find folks out mining/ratting in belts or anoms. You can also get fights on gates.

3. High sec - you can join corps with war decks going on, find a fw corp, join red vs blue or eve uni or you can do other things. I used to do a lot of can flipping when I was in high sec and got lots of pvp with miners, can baiters, and people ratting in high sec belts. You can also drop a can in a fairly busy system and label it frig 1 v 1. If you are in an npc corp (and you are atm) then people who want to do a 1 v 1 will likely flip your can because they know that you will have no back up to come help (other than possible remote reppers). I used to do this frequently around perimeter but that was years ago and i have no idea if it is busy any more. I also used to randomly convo people undocking from the navy station there as it was the busiest. You would be amazed at how many 1 v 1 i was able to get from convos. Many will not be interested. Some of the younger players will be just to get a chance to learn about pvp. And no one can get podded in that type of 1 v 1 so folks are more likely to take a chance.

solo rifters huh?

I recommend looking for frig fights. As with all pvp in eve from frig to titan..... you have to pick your fights.

With solo rifter you can roam shallow 0.0 looking for indy kills and look for ceptors/other frigs in lowsec(let them engage first)

good luck
