Blueprint Group Inconsistency (Bug or Feature?)

In the Blueprint Group Components\Advanced Capital Ship Components\ are 36 BPOs. 4 of them have twice the research time requirements than the other 32 BPOs. Namely the 4 reactor blueprints do no match the rest of the group.


However, I filed a bug report about it and the bug hunter replied that the issue is known and is considered as working as intendet at the moment. He also suggested to make a post at the forums so a dev might be able to explain the logic behind it.

In my opinion that should be fixed, because it creates just annoyances for the players if they plan research projects and when they start the jobs they notice their timeframe wont work because 4 of the 36 blueprints are just exceptions without there being any logical reason for it. At least I cannot see any benefit for anyone in the current solution. Maybe a dev can show one.

That can easily be explained:

Their non-capital counterparts have the same relative difference and they decided the same difference should apply to the capital counterparts when they were introduced.

No idea why they made the difference with the non-capital parts. Maybe it has something to do with them taking twice as long to manufacter and research would save more time or something. I don't think this is a bug or incosistent feature.

That is the same question, just on another level :)

Makes no sense to me, having such differences within one group of blueprints. For example all cruisers, all battleships, all battlecruiser etc. have the same research times, no matter which tier or race they are. That is something that makes it easier to create research (or production) plans without having to check every single BPO for a possible exception. At least I can see no benefit of having such exceptions.

However, I just wanted to bring the devs attention to the case and maybe one of them might state a reason what possible benefit there is for the game or the players of having such exceptions within a group of blueprints.
