Does scram fail to kill MWD near FW plex beacon?

I got popped in an FW plex - among many reasons because my MWD shut down when he scrammed me. After the fight, he said I should have stayed near the plex beacon, 'cause my MWD would have kept working there.

Is this true? I've done lots of searching, and can't find anything that says one way or the other....
