First Time with POSes

I have 3 simple questions:

- The first time i anchor a POS an online it, Does it rep itself or i have to rep all its shield? What?

- And, the true purpose of Strontium is to give us time for repping the POS, no?

-How much strontium should i bring the first time?

Its my first time with poses and i dont understand them quite well, even after reading some guides...

Thank you very much

It starts at 50% shield [the minimum at which the fuel & stront bays are accessible]. It will take a few days for it to regen to 100%.

Repping helps, and isn't a bad idea. It also helps to get you familiar with how much shield a tower has.

It allows you to pick a time for the tower to exit reinforced mode, so you can respond at a time of your choosing when you can rep and fight-off the attackers who can otherwise destroy the tower.

The attackers choose when it enters reinforced mode. You choose when it exits.

I'd recommend at least 36 hours (maximum is 41 hours). You change the amount before it is below 50% shield to pick the time when it comes out of reinforcement.

Note that 36 hours = 1 day + 12 hours so it forces a +12 hour time-shift for the attackers. Max stront is a -7 hour time-shift which they will be expecting. Of course 29 hours might be better (-12 hour time-shift from max), but then once the attack is underway you can adjust. Easier to remove (jettison) than to add.

Many towers are reinforced Friday night so they can be destroyed on Sunday, as most people put in max stront and don't change the amount.

Generally fewer attackers return to destroy a tower (25% shield without hardeners + a little armor and structure) , as it is boring, and takes less effort than reinforcing (75% shield with hardeners + defenses).

So when it enters in Reinforce mode it will be avaible to attack 24h after + strontium time no?

Example:

Attack is on friday night so it will be out of reinforce on Saturday night + X hours (41,36,12...etc)

Thanks i think i undertand it now.

No, it comes out of reinforcement after stront timer ( no extra 24 hours)

No extra time. Tower info page on fuel gives you ammount of strontium consumption. That ammount is per hour. So depending how much strontium bay has, you have time.

CCP added strontium to give tower owner controllable reinforcement timer. It gives you time to organise defence and is fueled by strontium.

With full strontium bay, tower has 41 hours maximum reinforcement timer if its attacked and shooted that low shield that reinformenet mode activates.

Personally my alt corp has just 12 hours worth, just to annoy enemy. but since tower has nothing really valuable, theres very small chances that someone would wardeck my small industry alt corp.

1 - The POS shields will start at 50% and will slowly build to maximum. All towers have a natural shield regeneration, but it is slow. If you do not expect it to be attacked it should be fine to recharge on it own. But you can speed this up by repping it if you want. Even after POSes are attacked and defended, or repped after coming out of reinforcement, many players will only rep it up to 50% and let the shield recharge take over.

When a POS that was attacked comes out of reinforcement if you can rep the shields up to 50% and add more stront before the attackers come back to finish it off, it will reinforce again when they attack. This is where the 12 hour time shift below really works to your advantage. If you can rep it up and add more stront before they return to finish the job they will have to keep coming back as many times as you are able to rep it up and add stront between attacks. Unless they really have it in for you they will give up a leave you alone. You generally only have to survive the weekend as most players will not stay home from school or work to attend a POS bash. And like wise most will not get up at 3:00am to attack a time shifted POS durring the week, even if they will do so on the weekend.

2&3 - Organizing a fleet to take down a POS takes a little effort. they usually end up starting the POS bash at prime time for the attacking group. So if you put in enough stront for either 12 or 36 hours it should come out of reinforcement at the most inconvenient time for the attackers. This can be a bit of an issue if their prime time is the same as yours.

Also some players expect this and try to shift attack times as much as possible to reduce this offset. As others have said. If you are online and defending the POS when it is attacked, you can adjust the amount of stront in the tower just before it hits reinforced mode to control exactly when it comes out.

To help get the shields to 100% more quickly, you may want to pick up a POSprey to help rep the shield. Of course, if you have a real logistics ship, that will do much better.

Extremely low skill fit:

Only needs Caldari Cruiser 3, Energy Grid Upgrades 2, Jury Rigging 1 and Shield Emissions 1. If you only have Caldari Cruiser 1, it is not going to be cap stable. This should be cap stable for afk repping the shield.
