SWG was turned into lame assed crap pile of casual gamer **** pot long before it was closed...
NGE was playable?? WAAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Game went from best mmo ever made to pile of burning crap in the twitch of a witches cold teet. And CU was bad enough, 2/3 of my PA quit over that one. NGE was just sick pig ****. Damn you SOE/LA.

There was a time when MMOs were aimed at gamers.

Then the likes of Blizzard realised that the potential market of gamers was actually pretty tiny compared to the non-gamers. And so World of Warcraft began a steady decline in its appeal to gamers and how easy it is for non-gamers to get into.

Theres an old salesmans adage that goes:
"Sell to the classes, live with the masses. Sell to the masses, live with the classes."

In this context the 'classes' are the gamers. Not meaning that Blizzard, selling to masses, lives with gamers but I am SURE you get the idea.

Darkfall lost me before they went live, all because of their unpaid forum mods. So if you are plannnig to make an mmoprp, make sure your unpaid forum mods are not idiots, really sad when unpaid idiots cost you people.

uhm.. eve has been made so much more friendly to new players like you, i'm not sure how you can call it hardcore as a starter.

meh so far eve, imo, has been one of the worst MMO's i have played.

A. the predator prey system, makes it so the older players drive away newer players, instead of attracting.
B. nothing to "walk around in" per say, everything is just an eternal star dome.
C. all the missions are just 1. kill x 2. put y in box. or 3. go to point z. and they repeat themselves, with not much of a story told.
D. the shear feeling of "loneliness" when you join the game, where everyone is trying to get the better of you.
E. The user interface. everything looks like a giant excel chart.

Simplify the Test Server and put one of your splash banners up in the login CCP.

Give noobs 5 mill SP each mirror and let them experiment. They might find a path they like.
