Greetings,

I would like to build a battleship for solo/small gang PvP. The one who will be able to get all those small Trashers and the big ships as well.

Budget doesn't matter, ship faction too.

Thanks for help.

Best regards,

Get a Machariel, use the cookiecutter fit.

My corp is currently at war with people who use mainly Megathrons and those little Trashers and Merlins which are so hard to hit by BSps.

Curious here, how much PvP experience do you have?

You could try DDA fit Ion Dominix's for station fights if you have T2 Heavies. They can bring the DPS of a Mega and switch to bonused / Dmg Modded Hammers and Warriors for smaller ships for cheaper cost. Utility in fitting means you can use Shield Ganks, Armor Drone Standard or 4-5 Heavy Neut Fits.

Ships that double tracking disrupt the Mega's are a real threat as well like simple Arbitrators that can't be Thrasher Alpha'd and respond with bonused drones. Throwing newer players in Blackbirds might not be such a bad idea with Gal, Gal, Min, Min, Cal Jammer setups since you are unlikely to run into much high SS Amarr ships in a High War unless they role out neutral Guardians in which case you'll want to keep some Amarr ready to fit. Getting people into who would be of little DPS or you don't consider strong enough to participate into TD and Jam Ships can throw the field into your favor or at least push them off and for 10-20mil them popping isn't a big deal.

dominix, high dps and solid tank for the big stuff, can release many flights of any sized drone for those pesky tacklers.

Honestly, assuming you have sufficient support skills, I'm actually in favor of the Talos, with sufficient support.
It has a plethora of things that make it effective against smaller ships. It uses Blasters, which are the fastest tracking close in weapon system, it has a drone bay, giving it a flight of light drones for added effectiveness against smaller ships. It has sufficient mid slots, allowing important goodies, such as webs, painters, scram, tracking computers, etc. It's more maneuverable then Battleships, even if armour tanked, allowing you to slingshot smaller ships better then a Battleship, and can do a small armour buffer, giving it some survivability. You can kite Battleships in your optimal, or get in and orbit if they're using ranged guns.
It is also a lot cheaper.

However, if you insist on using a Battleship, I've seen 'Pests, Phoons, Machariels, Dominixes, and sometimes even 'Throns used decently for this. The 'Pests and Phoons have spare highs for neuts, which devastate the smaller ships by deactivating MWD's, points, and the sort leaving them slow moving sitting ducks for volley firing, while being able to fit decent tanks. You should also be faster, allowing some kiting action against their BS's. The Machs... yeah, just Machs. Domi's for the reasons above, and 'Throns because they have good damage, a good drone bay for anti-thrasher work, though be prepared to replace drones, and good tracking on their guns. With a MWD running, you might even be able to track them decently well. And they're good against other BS's.

Vindicator. It has 90% webs. 2 x fed navy webs and any ship withing 18km will be brought to a stand still waiting to receive facemelting volleys of antimatter.

That reminds me, getting into faction BS's, Bhaalgorn is pretty good too. Gets a web range bonus and bonused neuts.

Head into the field in 4 Curses, and 10 Arbitrators. Just chuckle and have fun. ;)

For cheapness and versatility - nothing beats the 1800 DPS shield fit domi, just keep in mind it's not a solo boat

Or, fit it with neuts and armor tank it - nasty solo boat that way

My two favourite PVP Bs are the Pest and the Maelstrom, the Maelstrom I have been particularly using of late in low sec, very strong tank, good DPS and tackle.

[Maelstrom, XLASB Maelstrom Solo]
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Internal Force Field Array I

Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Shield Boost Amplifier II
X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster

As for the pest, I have a couple of fits, but my favourite is the "Giant Hurricane" fitting;

[Tempest, Nano Pest 1 Nano]
Damage Control II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Large Shield Extender II

Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I

Large Core Defense Field Extender I

Large Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I

Warrior II x5
Hammerhead II x5

There are of course many other options, buffer/gank geddons are a good option, Megas the same story, however if your looking to deal small ships as well, the dual neuts on the Pest make it a very strong option, it also has suprising GTFO abiltiy for a BS, if your looking to upgrade from that, take said fit, slap it on a Fleet Pest, Fit an extra nano and faction the point.

Of course the Mach is the ultimate thing, but thats pretty high end, I run a Mach (When I have the Balls to undock) like this.

[Machariel, ASB]
Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer
Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer
Domination Nanofiber Structure

Awesome GTFO ability, more manueverable than a Hurricane, faster too.

Sounds like he's in high-sec. Smartbombs are bad in high-sec. Concord does mean things to people who use them, all because of that jerkwad that cloaked up and humped your side so you couldn't see him setting you up for concording.

Dominix is great, you can fit drones to engage any target size and can easily support heavy neuts, which are really bs greatest weapon against smaller stuff.

I know that my enemies are mainly using Arbitrators, Thrashers and Hawks. They also have a Megathron.

I am thinking about Dominix but this is so ugly. Probably the ugliest one in the universe, isn't it? Smile

Thanks for all the responses. I would be glad if you could share some more knowledge with me.
