Problem with pos is its code is ancient and none in current ccp has even clue how it works. So theyre delaying fixing it untill they run out of excuses to do so.

Personally i would settle for improved management interface. Current one is terible. Really terible.

But then again im looking forward what they comeup when they finally get arround to fix it.

We are Minmatar, Our ship are made of scraps, but look what our scraps can do...

People keep asking for personal POSs, I am against this unless we get to war dec individual players to remove said POSs.

This is a good point. We will need a mechanic of some sort to allow their removal by force, otherwise we will quickly find all area's filled with POS's of people that are no longer active.

Dead sticks are already a problem in a lot of systems. Isn't there some timer that causes a control tower to go poof? I.e., if the owning corp goes inactive or the tower remains unfueled for more than 30 days or something? Or does the game just leave the dead sticks there forever, tying up that moon indefinitely?

This is an interesting point.

Clearly, personal POSs cannot be "no risk" propositions. We don't want SimEVE here.

That said, if personal POSs are to become part of the game mechanic, then risk v. reward will need to balance--otherwise it is a pointless area of development.

I think 'growing' a structure to be specific to the inhabitants would be best. Let players decide if they want it to function more closely to a station or more towards a deep outpost with defenses, and of course everything in between. Both destructible in their own way.

I think it would be cool if communities in low/ null had to design PoS layouts to account for defense against attacks.
Outer ring PoS's would have a focus on defense and guns, while the inner ones would be mining or producing.

Automated gun and drone bays would be cool. Then they could have scripts for them that allow you to configure thier actions and use.

Ah yeah, instead of the anchoring mechanic for all the POS modules give them a fitting screen like ships have. That would be great.

They said they wanted it to be like lego.
If you see a tower in a picture, you could easily recognize its yours.
I don't see how they can pull it off with just modules.

Ummmm.....no.

CCP Soundwave said at FF that the work would begin on these following Retribution's release. The CSM has been gathering feedback well in advance (and sharing it with CCP) so they are as well informed as possible during the pre-planning and early prototyping which has already begun, from what I've heard and understand. But the real meat of the work won't begin till December, following the expansion's release, and the plan is still to have the first phase of neu-POS's out for the Spring 2013 expansion.

We'll keep you posted as we know more for sure, we've been trying to secure a sneak peak at the early design documents so we can go to the Winter Summit with some feedback, and not just see these for the first time.

All that to say, this isn't vaporware or some kick-the-can-down-the-road sort of situation, CCP hasn't yet veered from the schedule they've layed out with regards to POS's, hopefully the next couple of months should bring some more details to the surface.

Cool.

Any word on whether there are going to fix stupid stuff like T3 assembly? You can build the hulls and subsystems in a POS but you can't assemble the hulls and subsystems into a functional ship in a POS.

Not yet, we haven't begun delving into design details with CCP yet but that's a good point of feedback to pass on to the developers. Thats exactly what we're trying to do as CSM reps in the run-up to the major work on the feature, gathering the list of elements we'd like to se integrated into the final design.

Sure. Inferno was released in May this year, so whether you call it the Spring or Summer expansions, that's the one I'm referring to. The next major release beyond Retribution (and the subsequent 1.X Retribution updates).

From what I understand, the new POS's will be like Legos.

And boom goes the dynamite.
