Armour Tanking - Fit Question

I've never touched armour tanking so forgive the n00b question. I am messing around with a Navy Megathron build and have 3 lows for resists. I will use one each of the mission specific hardeners, but I wondered if there was a armour version of the shield Invuln? If so, what's it called?

In EFT I can see Adaptive Nano Plating and Energised Adaptive Nano Membrane. I'm I right in thinking that the Plating is passive and the Membrane is active?

Grateful for any clarity.

Thanks.

Energised has a larger fitting requirement and a better resist profile at lower skills, you can buy a c-type ANP for 15mill in jita that is only a 1% or 2 lower than an T2 energized and is much easier to fit. Both are passive modules.

You may want to look at the Reactive Armour Hardener for missions....

No Worries

The energized one takes cpu as well as 1 grid. The other just requires 1 grid and is often used when fittings are extremely tight. They are both passive. There is no active omni resist module for armor.

There is the new Reactive Armor Hardener Module. I have not used this however and cannot comment on it's usefulness.

[EDIT] - Beaten to the buzzer.

Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane, Advanced Nano Plating, and Reactive Armour Hardener. They've all been mentioned already.
The EANM has the downside of requiring CPU, and the ANP does not. Neither is an active module, and they both recieve benefits from Armour Compensation skills. The RAH... I have no experience, but I know it's an active module that eats cap.

But my question is: what is this Megathron for? Perhaps you should accumulate some experience with cheaper armour ships before you jump right into a faction battleship.

Just for a change from my SNI, CNR & Rattlesnake for Care Bearing Lvl 4s.

Thanks for the responses guys.

One further question, what is the preferred Armour Repairer? I've put a Centus A-Type in my fit but not sure if that's the most efficient in terms of power consumer per cycle versus amount of armour repaired.

Ah. Well then I guess it isn't so important to get a lot of experience with armour before using it in that case. I just really didn't want to hear something stupid like "I wanted to get into PvP".

Heh! Blink

No, I'll not risk anything bigger than a BC in PVP for now. I was looking at the Vengeance for PVP though - looks like a fun little ship. Not crazy DPS I understand, but apparently good survivability.

The Core line is the cap efficient line. The Corpus/Centus line reps more and is theoretically better for pulsing.

One obligatory note on the ANP/EANM discussion above: deadspace ANPs are dirt cheap. C-types nearly match T2 EANMs and both B-types and A-types do better. All for no CPU use. Just something worth considering.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I'm using A-Type ANP's on my Abaddons because it saves me precious CPU, and gives just as good resists. Sure, it costs a lot more, but it's more effective.
