Environmental Storms

My idea was to feature some environmental storms into EVE, storms that could effect certain ships, such as their cloaking device, shields, and weapons. All pending on the type of storm it is. The storm can be placed at a random location, similar to that of the incursion, or it could be pernamently fixed at a system.

Imagine, you have a fleet of warships, who is tank up on shields and your scouts or intel has detected the enemy fleet in the next system over, your fleet sets off to meet them and as you prepare for battle you realize the enemy, who may be tank up on armor, has the battlefield on their side as an electromagnetic storm is interfering with your fleet's shields.

Now flame on!

This mechanic already exists. They just don't have it in K-Space.

What kind of storms would exist in space?

Solar flare could effect resistances, lock range and lock time, etc.
Meteor storms could do a little bit of constant damage

As far as I'm concerned, warping is moving through a sub space tunnel and therefore you could have sub space tears. Because your ship is partly in space and partly in sub space, it can having a webbing effect.

I think this is a better idea suited for missions where such disturbances would be more local and not solar system wide.
I also think this would be better as random occurrences rather than constant effects.

CCP's true, butthurt, colors.

Because those who can't do themselves keep others from doing too.

This. Wormhole effects change the game a lot. You go through a WH into another system and suddenly you're doing double damage and your lock range is halved. Then you move the the next system and find that your shield resists are way down while your armor resists skyrocket.

I'd be very much in favour of system wide effects that change a stat by 5-10%. More than that would heavily impact the game in possibly negative ways. WH's are static bonuses/penalties are they not, and fairly well mapped, but a variable 5-10% effect would add life to the game.

I was thinking along the lines outside of wormhole space. Like it happening anywhere at any time. The storms could be anything like the geomagnetic storm or radiation storms. Who says we cant make up a storm being wormholes is made up aswell?
