Third month blues.

As a brief introduction I originally started playing this game approximately three months ago. I originally started as a miner, however I quickly realized this was not for me and moved into day trading/T2 production. This proved to be somewhere on the order of one hundred times as profitable as mining and infinitely more exciting. After doing this with my small army of alts for the past few months, and amassing a considerable sum in assets things have gotten quite dull.

I am currently in a corp that frequently does low sec roams which are incredibly fun when there is action, but for the most part mostly involves wondering around looking for a fight for two hours and catching the lone pirate. They also seem to frown on bringing ships costing over a hundred million isk for some reason.

My research has lead me two options. The first being joining a null sec corp or a mercenary corp. For both I would most likely purchase a sub cap combat character- more research is required for this.

An addendum that I should most likely add- I am a graduate student with limited time that, in most cases, is fairly sporadic. Although I am never far from a computer and can usually log on at a moments notice just not for extended periods of time.

My question is this- With joining a null sec corp is it possible to find a balance of reasonable safety while being able to find some kind of action when I am logged on. I am not really adverse to loosing everything in null sec however having to relocate a base of operations daily would, I believe, get annoying.

Also how do you pick a null sec corp; they have quite the reputation of screwing you over in one way or another.

Is there any possibility of joining a financial or manufacturing team? I would assume this would be a highly trusted spot and would take quite some time to be a part of.

Join RedVBlue with one of your toons. If they are not fighting eachother then they are out on a 00 roam.

If you wish to rent this space, Please enquire within.

In my experience there is no such thing as instant log on fun in eve. A lot of null sec is even safer and more boring than high sec to be honest. The caringest bears hang out there it seems.

I've never been a part of RVB myself but from everything I've heard it does seem to be the closest thing to being able to log on and get into fights if you want.

Other than that find a corp that does roams regularly at a time that works for you. Use the recruitment forum and be very thorough when talking to recruiters, they lie, a lot.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

This is unfortunately true sometimes. Although I have often logged in and find some kind of mining or mission operation underway that I can hop into so I guess this really comes down to your corporation and when your corp mates play the game. From what I understand this not only plagues small corps but large null sec corps as well. So be sure that they are active when you log in while taking a break from research on your thesis Cool

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. If you can lose a Kronos or Vargur every week, fly it! Just keep in mind if you are the Tengu in the middle of 20 Caracals they will target you first, which means you can just super tank and let your 20 Caracal "drones" do the work for you!

Good luck out there! I hope you find a good set of friends to fly with that can help you get out of blues.

By super tank, he means get sexually violated and go up in a flame of glorious plasma explosion.

Just felt the need to clarify.

Serious PVP corps prefer you fly ships in accordance with the rest of the fleets relative value. The reason is simple, NO amount of ISK at ALL can SAVE your ship. No matter how expensive. The bigger the value, the bigger the predators, that is all. The only thing that matters is team work, coordination, and brains.

Just remember that EVE is not an instant gratification game. It takes time to figure out what you want and how to get it. A good place to look are groups like Agony Unleashed or Noir. both good corps to find descent pvp in. And both well respected in the community.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Some days you're the bug, and some days your the windscreen.                   And some days, you're just a man with a gun.

Ah this makes quite a bit of sense.

Thank you for the replies I will start shopping around for a null sec corp in the coming weeks!

Nullsec is one option but don't box yourself into a single option based upon assumptions and expectations.

You also have wormholes with small gangs operating in them Profits can be very good, activity ranges from PvE through PvP around to exploration and roams out to where ever your front-door entrance happens to land that day.

Then you have the 2 types of nullsec - NPC vs SOV. In SOV space and even within these areas, differing ways of play.

"Pets"/"renters" can often have a different life/play style than those in the controlling groups. In larger alliances, you often have a fleet-finder option to log on and join up with a fleet.

NPC space is pretty wild and they do have corporations and alliances that base out of them. There's usually some degree of activity going on in any of those NPC based systems where you might dock up and call home.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from the idea, just provide you with a few other types of options to look at. If you don't find "a good group", avoid the assumption that they don't exist - even in that type of space. Just keep shopping and refine what you are looking for.

This. Whenever I see a FC do this, I just burn away from the blob and prepare to warp out because it's clear we'll get murdered.
