Just saw this on Netflix, never hear of it. It's a sci-fi Jurassic Park type show. The jist is near future earth is going thru environmental collapse, and they somehow find a way to one-way travel 85 million years in the past to setup a new civilization/colony. I've only seen a couple of episodes and some of the sci-fi aspects are a little corny, but overall the characters seem believable, the CGI isn't bad, and there are plasma rifles and dinosaurs galore. I'll probably watch the rest of the season but wanted to see if anyone else caught the show yet, and if so what your thoughts are. Cheers.

It was great right up through the first and only season. Like Firefly, all the good ones die young :(

I was interested in the show, the whole concept and where it could lead with its mysteries. But right off the bat the main plot wasn't getting any attention, mostly in the background so that generic plots we've seen in other shows could drag it out with hints to the main plot. I haven't seen it all, but I was disappointed one of the first episodes after the premier was about a virus in a lab, not that original. Sadly, with that formula it probably wasn't going to hook viewers. Plus, some of the actions the main characters were taking and behaving didn't make me care too much for them, such as the children.

Now that it's been cancelled after 1 season, I'll probably not give it a chance to hook me if it doesn't resolve much. I was all for giving it a chance when it came out, I love sci-fi shows and I'm not that critical over these things. It was just disappointing how the show progressed after such a nice setup and potential. It's possible the show improved near the end, slowly building up momentum, but that's a little too late sadly.

And bringing up shows like Firefly, . It's become too often that ambitious shows like these are being cancelled after 1 season before it even has a chance. So these days I'm finding it difficult to devote my time and get hooked on new shows if networks can't even commit to two seasons or conclude it, but instead just abandon their dedicated viewers, leaving them hanging forever. The networks hope another network will take it over, but if that doesn't work they should have a backup plan to conclude the series, like a 2nd shorter season or mini-series. Sort of like how Fringe Season 5 is only about 12 episodes and will conclude the series. They were also thoughtful enough to try to resolve almost everything in the Season 4 finale in case it wasn't picked up for season 5.

Lost interest when they started doing stand alone episodes like stargate and Star trek.

Watched the first season on network tv, would have watched the second. Gone, reality shows are cheaper to make like a ten dollar hooker.

ugh, that sucks to hear. standalones wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all the same. don't know how many "oops we're in an alternate reality" type episodes i've seen over the years. oh well, given the relative lack of any new sci-fi and my complete disinterest in reality tv, i'll still prolly finish the series.

Terra Novas first mistake was being a Fox show. Its second was being a fox show that lasted 1 season.

Other than that, I loved that show.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Fox produces some of the best shows. sons of anarchy, always sunny in philly, Archer, rescue me, the league etc etc. It was just 1. on the wrong fox channel, and 2. too much of a kids show.

How I am sooo not interested in watching tv shows about teenagers and pre-teens :P But, that's Spielberg for ya. Other than all that, I thought it was great, but I thought the whole kid influence made it lame overall, shooting for too wide an audience and needing to make the show way too kid friendly. Not that it needed to be at the level of SoA in gruesomness, but one of the reasons I think SG did well was because there wasn't a 14yo on the SG-1 team, ya know?
