PVP Opt In - Saving CCP from itself

PVP flaging is ghey - but given that CCP is hell bent on their new flagging system, it seems we are going to be stuck with it. So it behooves us to suggest changes that will make the proposed system less ghey. With this in mind I propose the "PVP Opt in flag."

Basically as things currently stand we already have a PVP Opt in - anybody who goes outlaw is saying that they are available for pvp anywhere and at anytime. Unfortunately these good folk are largely restricted to low and null for their misdeeds which prevents many folk from shooting at them since they cant be bothered to to go to low/null. Also I suspect that there are many folk who would like to opt in to pvp but simply dont want to gimp their toons by going outlaw. To satisfy this niche - I propose a 24hr pvp opt in flag. This flag would work has follows:

  • Go to a NPC station agent (similar to a militia agent) and pay him a nominal amt of isk.

  • Upon payment you are now available for pvp meaning that anybody can shoot at you at anytime and in any location (as if you were suspect flagged).

  • However acquiring the flag does not mean that you get to shoot at anybody you want - instead you are limited to only legal targets - other folk who are also pvp-opt in flagged, suspects and criminals, etc. . .

  • You do of course get to defend yourself against anybody who does shoot at you and if anybody who is not pvp-opt in flagged shoots at you, they acquire the opt-in flag upon aggression as does anyone who assists them.

  • The flag has a 24 hour cool down - meaning that it cant be changed for 24hrs once its status has been switched.

The way I see this working is that the flag will propagate across high sec -- somebody in that little rifter flags himself and sits outside of jita - next thing you know that guy in the cane snipes him - soon other people are shooting at the cane with the result that everybody involved is flagged for pvp for at least 24 hours. Hilarity ensues.

Flame on.

Why wouldn't they just go to low or null, if they wanted to be shot at?

They even get to shoot first then, if they leave high sec!

It seems that you are looking for the space that exists beyond highsec. You should go explore it... You'll find what you are looking for there.

Or.... you could just implement the soon to be available 15 minute PvP timer.....

Just steal from someone's can... and you'll become a suspect that anyone in highsec can shoot.... It lasts 15 minutes, and doesn't cost anything!

People who scream go to low/null simply have not been there -- PVP requires numbers -- in eve the vast majority of the players are in high sec. Low and null are vastly underpopulated. If you want readily available pvp low/null is not the place to go. Also you have bubbles in null and hot-drops and capitals in both low and null. IMO many folk folk want to pvp but they dont want to deal with low/null baggage that goes with -- hence the reason why there is so much angst over the crimewatch 2 changes.

This would work if there were cans out there in the wild which there arent - and its only for 15 min...

Also I should add -- no one would force the carebears to opt in so why be against it if it would make pvp more available everywhere?
