(and other hardener skills)

If I mainly active tank, are those skills really that useful to me? Looking for opinions since the description of the skill states that for active hardeners, it only gives the 3% bonus when they're not on.

Thanks for any help.

Two things. First, if you ever get neuted down until your hardeners turn off, you'll thank your comp skills.

Second, and probably more relevantly, armor comps are particularly important because the omni resist modules for armor are both passive (EANM and ANP). You'll find yourself fitting those more and more as you cut back on tank and add gank (PvE) or have to omni tank (PvP and PvE). This is in contrast to the Invulnerability Field, which is active. And that's why armor comps are more important than shield comps in general.

(The exception to the last being that armor cannot actually passive tank while shield can. A fully passive shield tank requires good shield comp skills.)

Armor comp 5 skills also give you better resist stats with A-Type Energized Plating (55.625%) than T2 & Faction Hardeners (50-55%).
So if you need to fit a more cap stable neut-resistant ship, these are damn useful. And not too expensive.
