Needing Advice on an Idea!

Hey everyone,

I have been away from eve for a a little over a month now and on my travels, Out of my pod, I came across an Idea. Has anyone ever thought about using frigates to compete in a race that your allowed to blow up your opponent? Would this not make for something entirely more interesting? I got to thinking... What if you had 2 other team mates and you were each allowed 1-2 weapon turrets of your choice. The idea is you get points for either disabling an opponent or having all 3 (or more/less) come across the finish line. I know frigate racing in general is not a new idea.

So my questions are: Would the Eve mechanics make it difficult or easy to do this? Would this be a horrible idea? If it sounds like it would work and sounds like people would be interested, Any suggestions?

Also Iv already figured out the problem of Concord, just have it in an empty low sec system and either try to provide security or something else. I haven't worked out all the kinks because I just dont know if it would work or If I am just dreaming... let me know what you think!

Thanks,

Leave out the race and cut right to blowing each other up.

In reality this will just become a race or a fight... can't really have it both ways.

Gate agression will make people shy away from engaging, so it will be either a race to the finish with no fighting, or a fight to the death with no racing.

Both sound good fun though Blink

edit for clarity: if you engage another pilot the game mechanics prevent you from jumping for around 1 minute.

There were some deathraces that I think a blogger setup or something. Someone else can maybe remember who did it. But it even went through some null sec systems and then back in to low sec iirc. I might have just been a one off. But they have been done before. I think the whole corp helped watch all the gates to make sure no one cheated and took short cuts.

Edit: it was Rixx Javix (Eveoganda blog.) back in 2010.

Not much of a race if it's just in the one system unless you're racing between cans or planets P

I actually got the Idea from a show called Immortal Grand Prix... But there version is Mecha`s that speed skate on concert...

Well here was my thoughts on this:

It would be in one system and the track would be inside a Warp Disruptor field or several... One rule would be you would have to continue moving forward or take a penalty of sorts per so many seconds that you stay in one spot.

I propose that instead of fighting while racing you have a race to see who wins the fight. yes/no

Well I just thought If I could get atleast enough people interested I could sit down and think up other details about it and/or try it out. Overall I just want to create an Event Corp that organizes and funds events that other corps and pilots either participate in or compete in. Just to spruce up Eve... Because lets face it... I suck at normal combat and Im a horrible carebear :P

Btw To comment on an earlier post... I was going to have it like a gap between planets or asteroid belts and have cans as checkpoints.

look up Julius Rigel and Gyra Rho

they have run a variety of racing formats and some may have included low-sec tracks (not entirely sure)

Such horrible advice, such immaturity, doesnt deserve to be quoted like I just did. I understand if people dont like my idea the whole point was to get opinions. However, if anyone feels they cannot provide me with useful constructive critism. Please feel free to refrain from posting on my thread. I want to know why its a bad idea. if I wanted to be insulted I would of asked that.

On topic: what I'm gathering is that this has been done or tried to some extent. Maybe I should think of something else then

If you want to have an Eve Event, just do it. That's how the Eve Deathrace came about, I just worked out the details, set up the rules and then announced it on my blog. The whole thing came together quickly and by the time it was ready to roll we had sponsorships amounting to over 4b isk in cash and prizes. Even had support from EON Magazine, CCP and many many others.

It really was a one time event though, I tried to start another one up a year later but the support wasn't there for a second go.

Like many things in Eve it seemed to be the right time and place, these things can't always be repeated.

Anyway, good luck if you decide to do something with it.
