what is playspan and how is it releated to EVE?

1st iv herd of this website, apprenlty been hacked and stolen details of customers, including EVE players:

Can somebody at CCP put our minds at ease as to who/what they deal with?

Does that affect people that pay plex or subs with credit card ( eg. Visa) at ccp store as well or only people that have a playspan account?

To my understanding Playspan has nothing to do with Eve at all. Unless they are a 3rd party seller of Plexs similar to Shattered Crystal.

I'm quadruple checking at the moment but as it stands there is no current relationship with this company. They used to sell ETCs for us. We do not currently have any relationship nor, thus far, have I been able to determine that we've had any other relationship with them in the past.

As per usual don't believe everything you read in "press" on the internet. :) We'll publish a news item shortly to make it official.

If anyone used to buy ETCs from them when they did that and happened to be silly enough to use the same username/password for logging into Playspan as they do for EVE, they should probably strongly consider a password change.

Should change those every few months anyway.

So it is related to EVE. If you used this service to buy ETCs previously, your account details may have been obtained by hackers and you should probably change the details immediately

Sure, as was stated in the news item which was published. However, the same could also be said for any remotely EVE related site on the internet.

Slapping the word EVE on a website doesn't mean you have our login credentials and I don't think it should be insinuated in news items as you can see the response from our concerned customers when it occurs. It's sensationalist and inaccurate.

If you are dumb enough to use the same login info for playspan(or any other site) as you do Eve then you should change it asap. Other than that it doesn't seem to affect Eve players.

Working fine here. Perhaps just a little glitch with your browser or ISP, it happens from time to time. However if you still cannot access it here is what it says.
