That's an exercise in consensual pvp - putting cans in front of jita undock is not what im talking about -- imo thats not can flipping. "True" can flipping involved getting someone to engage in pvp when they really didnt want to or expect to. And besides ccp is putting in a lock that is defaulted to from the start that will prevent you from flipping a can in empire - so I doubt there is going to be a boost to can flipping - its just going to be reduced to consensual fights.

What exactly is the downside? You can still flip just the same except now its much easier to attract attention.

You have to have cans to flip. In case you havent noticed, the barge changes rendered can mining obsolete. The current fotom is reterivers for the afk miner and macks for everyone else.

I take it you've never actually flipped a can, huh?

Here is what would happen if someone in a system I was in got suspect flagged by doing normal canflipping (taking a can from a miner and dumping it back out) under crimewatch 2. Someone else from my corp would decloak in their sensor boosting stealth bomber and point them then I'd warp in from a pounce in my tornado and alpha them.

You see the difference between that and being able to identify who might actually come and shoot you based on their corp membership?

I am going to enjoy the changes because slime like you can no longer abuse a long broken game mechanic, I hope to see more tears from patehtic wannabes like you. I have always found pond scum that hunt noobs because they have no idea what the game mechanics were the bottom rung in EVE. That is my take on it.

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

I still find people to flip. Anyway ccp killing can flipping with barge buff has nothing to with crimewatch.

Certainly off topic. All I can say about it, is that I started can flipping as a noob because I wanted noob level pvp. Sure its easy to say to a new player get a rifter and go to low to pvp, but when you actually try it, you find that (1) there is not many folk in low, and (2) you get face stompped by more experienced players. So if you came to eve (a supposedly pvp game) and actually wanted to pvp - what exactly are you supposed to do to find fights where you actually have a reasonable possibility of success? But i degress -- what I should really say is go back to wow you carebear.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

Didn't say it did - but CCP has made clear that it expects can flipping to die in the expansion -- the dev blogs have explicitly said that the locks are intended to kill can flipping.

Can-flipping was the best way to get 1v1 pvp imo simply because it created something to fight over, and as you could be threatening hours of work, it was arguably a more effective motivator than any failroam through low and null ("nope, do not engage, they have 2 more members, stay at the POS while I call in ten more battleships and ECM").

And not every miner out there is defenseless, even in a barge like this one..

Sigh, we've lost so much.

According to the various Dev blogs a considerable number of play styles are being severely curtailed or eliminated by CCP in the up coming expansion -- can flipper, baiter of can flippers, ganking for profit, solo small ship (e.g. sb) hunting of missioners, etc. . . If you were one of the players who participated in these play styles what do you expect to be doing after the update? Will you move to low/null? Or maybe kick ccp/eve to the side of the road and play mechwarrior online, or some other game?

I, for one, used to be heavily in to can flipping and baiting competing can flippers. I also greatly enjoyed hunting missioners in small ships - so this expansion hits my personal playstyle right where it hurts. In response I moved to low sec. But the sec loss/grind there is annoying. I tried the null thing and its blob/bubble play is not for me. So while I expect I will continue playing eve, I anticipate lowering my game time in favor of other games (XCOM). So what about you guys out there?

You have absolutely no idea what you're moaning about or you're just trolling.

I flipped literally hundreds (if not thousands) of cans. The problem with can flipping has always been getting people to fight. If your corp mate did that i would be absolutely delighted as it would be a dead cert bomber kill and possibly even an escalated fight with a tornado for afters. Hell if you killed me and looted my can one of my mains might actually get to play.

Really? CCP did not say that they expected the new aggro changes to eliminate folk from using sbs and other small ships from killing missioners? And ccp didnt say that they expect the default interlocks to end can flipping? Oh and the changes to aggro acquisition for haulers doesnt make ganking for profit of questionable viability? I counter your accusation of troll with my own accusation of troll on you - you troll statement is really a -10/10 you sir are a terrible troll.

What about the double can flip? Get an alt to flip a can then you flip him. Hey presto the miner has to agress everyone to get his ore back. Profit

Sorry, but I'm going to have to call bullshit on you there on account of that clearly not being a realistic outcome and you apparently not having the foggiest idea how looting rights work.
