I won't take credit for this, as it was my corpie who got drunk as a legless grandmother on rum and said "TF, dude, why do Minnie and Caldari get the Ancillary Shield Booster and we get nothing? i mean, (hic) it's not fair. We need an ancillary armour repairer which is fuelled with recycled metal scraps!"

He then went on to declare he would corner the market in recycled metal scraps ahead of the introduction of this module. So best of luck to him when he wakes up and sees how his ludicrous buy order in jita went.

Nevertheless, I think this is a cool idea. Put metal in, get armor repairs. Fin.

One that runs off nanite repair paste makes way way more sense.

nanite repair paste has other uses. Which is the only drawback.

Or you could just stick rifters into the thing if it was capital sized, to fuel the Capital Recycling Armour Repairer. And it would give your ship a green glowing pulse, and daisies would shart out the tailpipe.

Perhaps make a new resource based on this? Armor Repair Paste, or something similar?

No.

ASBs solved the biggest problem with Active Shield Tanking in PVP: you needed two mid-slots for it to be effective (1 for Shield Booster, 1 for Cap Booster).

The biggest problem with Active Armour Repairing isn't Cap (most cruiser's and BCs set up for Active Armour tanking have at least 4 mids and can readily fit a Cap Booster) but Buffer.

Particularly at Frig and Cruiser size (and I have seen it done at BS Size) it's possible to burn a ship down before it settles into it's rep cycle.

Fix that and you have the Armour equivalent of ASBs.

I describe the idea in more detail in the Attack Cruiser thread.
