This will be my first attempt at requesting a feature.

Present day :
Alot of alliances and coallitions use half-secure and limited chat-groups. (channels)

Problem:
People tend to link names in different ways and/or fail to even link anything and just put normal text on occation.
The information is often incomplete due to stress in game or for other reasons.

Also having all these chatwindows open gets messy after a while.

Initial idea. (could ofcourse be improved)
Implement an intel report part into eve.
Ideally a grid-based layout with possible options per player that is viewing this tool

It could be integrated with dropdown on members in local.
possibly on single and multi-selected characters dropdown menu from the local list

Could also be from the overview where it would include shiptype and location.
I am totally open for suggestions , I just feel that this new feature could be a very helpful and handy tool in the modern warfare that eve brings.

It could potentially also list open fleets or atleast be integrated with the open fleets that would be limited to the members of the current intel-group.

Best Regards

EVE Online is all about emergence. What that means is that basic tools are used in ways that create interesting and compelling experiences that emerge during gameplay rather than being pre-designed.

Intel channels are one of those things that are an emergent use of a basic tool. They are simply a configurable chat channel that has been configured in a particular way (who has access, the MotD, the player enforced rules of use).

CCP should stick to using development resources to create the foundational basic tools and let players determine how to use them through emergent gameplay.

this basically.

makes it more fun when you get the cahts like these:

Scout: I got heaps of reds in this system
Smartass: mmmkay, define heaps with shiptypes jackass
scout: 10 falcons, 20 canes, 10 drakes, 5 rapiers
Smartass: yep....thats a heap of reds

Also ties into better fleet discipline and well player selection. Put the stoned drunk tard in scout role , get crappy intel because of it...well FC needs to pick scouts better the next time. Not saying stoners and drunks make bad scouts btw...some players I know play better under the influence. Mixed in with tard though...not so good most times lol.

Or get better people in general. Jsut could not get intel worth crap a few times. Jumped gate blind after 2 requests in 5 minutes. Died to a camp. with tons of apparently afk blues in the system (or total asshats). Intel channel clean for a good 30 minutes I was on and not one peep about this camp. that is a part of eve though. Even in a 500+ man alliance you still get your random intel.

Works both ways really. I am sure if on the ninjya squads that killed me a few times I'd be lol'ing at the of organization on our part. CCP should not be fixing that, players should.

Next time you suggest an idea, take the time to clearly state what you mean. The above reads like nonsense. Sure there could be a good idea in here.. but what in the hell do you mean by a 'grid-based' layout, with possible options PER player that is viewing this tool?

You'll get far more traction if you take the time to flesh out your ideas properly as opposed to just throwing it into a post.
