How much ISK is being removed from Eve with the new Tourney auction?

As I understand it, the minimum bid to get in on the auction for a place at the tourney table is 20 plexes/ team.
I imagine that if a team is unsuccessful in the bidding process, the plexes are returned to the team.

I believe we are looking at 64 teams getting in.
Assuming an average of 30 plexes required for a successful bid, that is 1920 plexes.
Plex cost pushing 600M, but call it 550M average.

1920 x 550 = 1.056 Trillion.

Or are most of these plexes not really going to "touch" the Eve economy as someone buys plexes for RL cash from CCP and then immediately dumps them back into CCP coffers?

I would be really curious to see what the breakdown is.

Since PLEX do not create or destroy ISK (except with sales tax) the amount of ISK being removed is precisely ****.

None.

This doesn't even make any sense. If anything, ISK would be added to the game (who would pay 15$ to have 500m taken from his wallet?), but since PLEX doesn't work that way at all, you are just totally wrong.

OP doesn't seem to understand how PLEX works in relation to ISK. But that's already been stated in a couple of less direct ways.

OP's estimate may be close if each PLEX is traded on the market 100 times.

Post with your monkey.

OMG GUYS CCP JUST NEEDS TO SELL PLEX TO PLAYERS FOR ISK DIRECTLY BECAUSE PLAYERS JUST SCAM EACH OTHER AND DRIVE PRICES UP AND FORCE CCP TO LOSE PAYING CUSTOMERS!!1

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

If anything it will make the amount of ISK go up in the game.

With enough teams entering, PLEX prices will go up. Making people grind more to buy the higher plex prices. So prices could inflate from this tournament or so much tied to PLEX sales.

Of course a balance could be reach, with high plex prices, where people stop grinding more and just buy their account with RL money. And not experience much inflation at all.

CCP should just sell highest meta officer fit supercaps for $1000 USD each and remove the ability to construct them in the game itself.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

The PLEX market is getting completely out of control. The PLEX robber barons run amok with their unchecked behavior, while the average price tag of PLEX today makes anyone save for the vile 1% not able to afford game time. CCP needs to address this issue as fast as possible, or EVE will surely die. I propose that CCP starts selling PLEX to people directly on the EVE market, so as to bypass the tyranny of the scammers and fat capitalist swine strangulating the finances of the honest high-sec industrialists and 0.0 pvp warriors who are responsible for maintaining what little integrity this game has left. Here are this proposal's key aspects:

1. By selling PLEX directly to players, CCP can control the price directly, and therefore the amount that gets sold. As it is right now, only a select few people can buy PLEX due to the insane price. If the price is lowered, then many more people can afford them. If many more people can afford them, then CCP can sell many more PLEX. The more PLEX CCP sells, the more profit they stand to make. If CCP makes PLEX so cheap that even new players can easily afford them, then EVE can easily get tens of thousands new subscriptions in very short order, thus driving up CCP's profits exponentially.

2. Selling PLEX to players directly would also act as a powerful ISK sink. Instead of injecting new ISK into the system each time a player sells a PLEX for ISK to another player, it will go directly to CCP. This will have the added positive side effect of driving PLEX prices down further, because less ISK in the game would make PLEX proportionally more valuable, necessitating further price decreases.

3. If CCP sells PLEX directly, then there would be much less, or even better, no scamming. Since CCP would drive PLEX value down, scammers would no longer be able to competitively price their contracts, and would quickly go out of business. This would cause the game's reputation to spike in the gaming media, thus driving up subscription numbers and making CCP sell even more PLEX. Everybody wins (except the pigdog scammers).

4. Let's face it, the price of PLEX is responsible for the amount of criminal activity that occurs in the game. The less educated/fortunate players, who don't have the ability or training to earn their monthly ISK like the miners, industrialists, or salesmen do, are forcefully driven to lives of crime for lack of alternatives. If PLEX became affordable, then these people would no longer be forced to cheat, steal, and gank just to make ends meet. By being able to afford PLEX directly from CCP, these people would finally have a chance to find honest careers. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

I hope CCP listens to this advice, and makes no delay in implementing these changes. Time is growing short. Unless immediate action is taken, it will soon be cheaper to not play this game than to play it. If no one plays the game, then the company that makes it goes out of business. It's just common sense.

Meh. It was bland and not nutty enough, but this attempt at using a truism as a sign of the apocalypse just barely pushed it over the edge.

I mined my first PLEX in a burst when PLEX and hisec ore were both worth half as much as they are now. I can't imagine that mining toons are a select few.

You're just completely ruthless today, aren't you? And now with that generous grade of yours, my parents are going to beat me again. I'd wardec you in revenge, but that feature was removed in 1999 because CCP only had enough storage space for that, or forum likes, not both.

First - To give a reply to your question - VERY little - only in form of sales tax and broker fees.

Second - As someone who buy and sell about 150 PLEX per week, I can tell you that a LOT of different people are buying and selling. It is not just the "elite". I also know most in my alliance, pay for their game time with ISK.

Third - What the tourney is doing, is driving PLEX price up - not sinking any ISK. A lot of regions have no or very little PLEX left. Which again drives prices up - I have seen PLEXs sold for 800m in the last week, in a few regions - some from me even :)

And yes - this is just an alt - go cry over that somewhere else :)

well imho, plex prices will, in the main part, spike once word of this fully comes out and more start talking publicly about it, my guess is that plex prices will pass 1bn by the end of the auction, that in turn will push up the gtc as well to approx 2bn?
