Why don't they fix all the broken content first?

are you kidding?

they're releasing dozens of new ships with this expansion

i've heard one called the 'oggeror' which I can't wait to fly for the first time

4 destroyers and a single mining ship.
I think dozens is an exaggeration.

Actually, 3 Frigates from each race, Existing destroyer rebalanced and new destroyer. All 4 Cruisers rebalanced. And new ore mining frigate. In total there is 5 new ships, and 32 ships rebalanced. in Total 37 ships. So "Dozens" would be accurate.

But it will be pretty soon and we need to hurry if we're going to get all the complaining done that we need to before the summer '13 expansion is due!

I like these lists where half the content is done by ccp fozzie. Honestly, eve is playing second fiddle to dust, and as long as we have about 10 devs working on eve content, we are going to have half baked "expansions".

The amount of logged in players is telling everyone rather well how we are liking ccp's current direction.

It's a Free expansion ...
When you pay £27.99 for an expansion, you have an entitlement to voice concern.
But your NOT paying £27.99 for this expansion, so you have no entiltement for complaint.

For everyone complaining about there being hardly anything in this expansion:

The reworking that is going on, ship balancing / crimewatch / bountyhunting, is all stuff that CCP had to make when they were first programming Eve. These are changes to the very environment in which we play. The content people are wanting is "stuff" within that basic environment.

Change the graphics, ships names, slap a different name on Eve, like Starburst Wars or something, and we have a different game because of all the changes to the basic environment CCP is working on.

Its not really that hard to see the work they are doing if you just open your eyes a bit. Cheers.

When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life.

I noticed that there seems to be a decrease in the number of logged in players. Personally I think it's because CCP still has work to do in regaining customer confidence. What do you think?

Man, I'm sure glad you "the EXP is free, so shut up and be happy with it" folks don't actually work for CCP....because if you did, this game wouldn't last another year. No company in their right mind would take your approach to customer service....ever.

Bottom line is we are paying customers.CCP didn't make EXP free to do us a favor. They figured it would be their most profitable option,so no,I don't owe them anything for that. If they start charging for EXP, I'll just find another game if I don't want to pay.

I agree. And we have every right to discuss the value for money of each expansion.

I think it's hilarious that people come and say 'but they are doing so much work behind the scenes to make this happen", which is the same argument people pulled out in defense of expansions like Incarna.

Players don't care how clever the coding is, or how much refactoring they have to do. They care about whether or not an expansion is fun to play and adds to their gaming experience.

+1 to OP, I wouldn't call this an expansion either. The new features are nice and probably needed, but Retribution is what we would call patches back in apocrypha days.

Was gonna mention Quantum Rise as smallest post Trinity as well. It was mostly backend, UI, and fluff.

This will be the first expansion in EVE that I will play through (joined after Inferno release) but it really doesn't look like much.

Unfortunately, there were no “apocrypha days”.

Retribution is a solid expansion in EVE terms, and Apocrypha was a huge anomaly (and a mess, but that is often overlooked because people got so blinded by the size).

The EXP would be free if EVE used it. Instead, it uses SP, which is quite different.
