I know u guys all ready keep this data all we need is a way to play it back.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

You should probably read a bit about the evolution of the English language; you'd most likely be amazed with your findings.

There's been a few games around with ingame recorders, they're always crap though just like ingame voice chat. Get FRAPS. It's definately worth the one time $50 purchase cost.

A feature that records what actually happens instead of making huge, uncompressed videos that eat a terabyte drive in six minutes would be welcome. Something similar to TF2, that allows you to switch to fleet members' or even enemies' perspectives.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I dont understand why anyone would want/ need an ingame recorder- Fraps is p*ss easy to use and i''d bet that even if CCP wasted resources of developing an ingame video recording tool, fraps would still be more efficient.

What we need is a director programme- which allows us to direct/ organize entire fleet fights and character animations- CCP use Jessica (which isn't available to anyone as far as i know).

CCP were really smart with the whole Eve Is Real campaign last year, and eve got loads of attention as a result of player made videos. What i say to CCP is- give us players access to the Jessica programme, let us players make epic vids and you get free advertising which results in more customers.

I'm with Brick on this one- make thouse carebearing b******s squeal..

No, ingame recorders are absolutely never crap. The ability to go through an event over and over again to pick out new camera angles is enormously valuable, particularly to a game like eve where people will often control the game from a zoomed-out perspective where you can't see any of the beautiful graphics. Then there is the issue of fraps' ridiculously bloated video files, reaching a gigabyte in seconds where in eve you might want to record for hours. Fraps is quite possibly the worst program you could ever use to record eve

I'm going to guess that you either aren't aware of file conversion software or are too lazy to bother. You can also plug a video camera in to your computer & record.

There seems to be a misunderstanding - is the request for a simple Fraps-style screen recorder, or for a true battle recorder (Halo's Theater is an example)? I would support the second for sure, but the first can be achieved easily enough with 3rd party programs.

In an older and now non-existent game called Shadowbane, their in-game recorder allowed you to clean up your interface on playback. So players would collapse windows, or remove shortcut icons etc. and then re-record those video's using fraps. It made for very nice video's without all the clutter and garbage on the screen that you may not want to show up in a nice vid. I'd like to see something like this implented.

last time CCP responded to a request for a battle recorder the answer was: no (I'm pretty sure the reason wasn't a technical one)

I personally would want one, cause once it works and they give us the option to script flights/weapons/etc we can use it like a jessica tool.

PS: if they could package this whole thing with CCP run spectator clients that are able to be placed on grids and collect all the data a normal client would we could could get an even mightier tool: our client could receive the data from the CCP-spectator and the spectator would be sitting on the grid of an tournament.. now get this: alliance tournament in your client with as much detail as you want!
And more.. let some of them run permanently on grids like jita 4-4 and I bet some people would like to run this as background for their desktops.

Anyone saying 'fraps' is the answer, you obviously don't know anything about video making (so your input is really quite meaningless) nor have you ever produced anything that reaches the level of barely average visually.

And yes, a battle recorder should be a standard in any pvp game, no matter what the genre. It's amazing how dumb developers are.

U clearly know nothing about game development.

This topic has been discussed many times in speakers corner, ideas for game development, general discussion, petitioned, csm and of course to the very faces of developers in Iceland at fanfest and at the csm meetings.

The reasons why they can not do it is due to security of game code.

As they did not create a battle recorder from the very beginning of the game development, they cannot retro fit one now.

You're welcome to petition again, and email people and rally support for this topic, but you will have more traction if you simply petitioned for better camera angles, like fly-bys etc, than a complete rewrite of the game, just to appease a few people.

Besides, the draw distance from camera before the graphics engine collapses is very short, and I think you'd end up with a new breed of whiners...

EDIT: On a purely personal note, I'd love to see a battlerecorder. As a wannabe director I would love to have that kind of setup available without the need for third party software Cool
