What is the best two-ship combination for PVE in Wormholes?

I'd like to take my two accounts into a Wormhole and get lost for a few weeks (running sites, salvage, hacking, archeology, etc). Assume C3 level wormhole up to the max level wormholes. Ship types and fittings are for the sole purpose of extremely long endurance PVE with no place to dock. Any consideration to PVP is purely defensive.

Cloaks are the one mandatory fit on each ship so that I don't have to worry about getting scanned down unless I'm actively running a site. And at least one of the ships must have the salvaging tools and other tools needed for hacking/archeology, etc.

Last note: If your combo includes a T3 ship, then also add what ship you'd replace that T3 with (if you had to). T3 is nice but I expect to get popped too often to use it.

Moros and a Loki.
Loki can be replaced by a Rapier if youre cheap like that.

Why a Dreadnought? Isn't the mass too high for entering/exiting most wormholes? Isn't it useless for anything but POS/capital bashing? I can't picture running sites in a Dreadnought.

Don't mind Jack, he is

  1. kidding
  2. not reading all of the post
  3. or just have a strong urge to tell people he is plexing with caps in C6 systems

..I can never quite figure out which it is. Smile

What's your skills like? Any chance you can fly a Orca? That might work as a mobile base for longer stays in w-space of you don't want to setup a POS.

other than that I think a drake is the most ISK-effeciant way of doing C3s. Maybe a cloaky blackbird for hacking/analyzing?

Mobile Cloaky Orca base is always good, it allows you to noctis up your sites after completion/have a prober ship as well.

I'd suggest Tengu for C3s, but a Drake will work as well. A number of battleships work well, but they can't be stored in an Orca.

If you want to duo them (day tripping from high-sec for example) run 2x drake and come back in a noctis to salvage (bookmark your sites). You can also run 2x remote rep dominix, which are fun, but fairly skill intensive. Basically anything that can tank the damage amounts listed in this website:

You'll want about 400 DPS if you can, more is better, less is doable but slow.

I considered running dual battleship's but am not sure how soon I'll run out of ammo. Anyone have experience running dual battleships? How'd that work out and how long did you last?

Also considered having CHARACTER 1 in an ORA with CHARACTER 2 flying a BC (is this dock-able in an ORCA?) for running sites; with a NOCTIS and a PROBE or CHEETA also docked in the ORCA to use as needed. The idea is to use the ORCA as a poor mans carrier or station; CHARACTER 1 doesn't do much, just sits idle in the ORCA while my second character runs sites, returns to ORCA only to swap ships to the NOCTIS for loot/salvage, return, rinse, repeat.

The ORCA can hold all the loot, extra probes, ammo, charges, everything I'd need for an extended stay.

I'm most curious how high up the wormhole food chain either of these set-ups can reasonably take me. Are class 5 site's runnable? Is that too high? Maybe 4's too high?

Class 4's do heavy neuting, and wouldn't recommend a duo to try.

look, realistically youre looking at being able to do c1-3 sites.
for c1-2, just take a drake (or cane or harb) and a noctis.
c3 need a tengu, legion, slepnir ect, second toon in noctis.

you could do C4s in 2 rr tengus but they wont have probes and they wont have cloaks.
realistically you need at least 3 for C4s with one being a salvager/prober.

you cant do c5-6 with 2 toons. (yeah i know, technically not true but effectively it is.)

bottom line, either base yourself in HS and look fro c1-3 holes from there to run, or find a WH corp to join and dont run solo.

Why go through all this trouble if the only thing you are going to do is PVE?

Makes no sense.

2 Drakes, but I warn you, playing EVE solo is awfully boring.

A drake with a tp and a tengu with masb. 10 to 16 minutes per site in a c3. Oh, the drake with a probes launcher ti check for new sings and drones for frigs, tp for cruiser with t2 missiles. The tengu is for direct dps to the BSs, since your drake will be splitting its dps with the frigs.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.
