iv'e read several explanations on the forums about a mysterious race called the Enheduanni, and i have become fasinated about them. i have some questions though.

Are they an actual race and ethnicity or a group of like minded leaders who are manipulating history and happen to possess advanced tech?

Do they have territory beyond the cluster?

are they related to the sleepers or jove, or are they a different race entirely?

why are they the enemy of the jove?

what is the version of utopia that they are guiding new eden to?

The Enheduanni, Jove and Sleepers were all part of the Jove civilisation/faction. Just different groups within that civilisation.

The Sleepers are the Architects who built the first stargates of the Jove and helped them gain a foothold. They reside/sleep inside a virtual world called the Construct. Thanks to virtual time dilation they can invent, create and research new technology at incredible speed. They first became an Elite subculture in the Jove civilisation and later became the most powerful faction in their civilisation.

The Enheduanni are the caretakers of the Architects, they help them in and out of the Construct and are the only ones who had access to it. They controlled the flow of information between the Architects and their discoveries and the rest of the Jove civilisation. Eventually they used this as leverage to gain political and cultural power over the Jove civilisation. They started to enforce their own views and will upon them. It is believed they are responsible for the Disease that plagues the Jove, with the intention of forcing the Jove to obey them. They left Jove space shortly after.

They are the enemy of the Jove only in the sense that they believe they know what is best and wish to force everyone else to follow that vision for the greater good of all. To achieve this goal they manipulate others and attempt to influence the course of major events using the advanced technology they gain through the Architects.

I would recommend getting your hands on the Templar One book. It explains a great deal about them. (Not all EVE players are happy about those explanations, but looking at the new chronicle 514 I don't think CCP isn't going to be changing it)

In this dark void we are like brilliant stars, holding within us both the creative and destructive power to bring a new dawn upon worlds or plunge them into eternal darkness.

No. There are few Enheduanni left, and they act as the power behind the throne on all the important places of the cluster, so they don't hold any territory for themselves.

They are EVE's version of "The Wizards" and refers to the GM and Devs woven into the game lore.

Enheduanna is also the name of a Sumerian priestess/author, though I am uncertain whether this influenced the CCP's concept other than the name.

I've always wondered why they have no presence in w-space. Seems like it would be natural for them to be there to protect the Sleepers.

They aren't, at least by the latest explanation of what the Enheduanni are.

Some Jove believed they are the reason for the Jovian disease, and that the Enheduanni allowed the Jove to suffer it. The story Theodicy is named for this conflict; the Jove saw the Enheduanni as Gods. As Gods, surely they had the ability to cure their illness, right? Well, they asked their Gods to save them, and the reply was, "well, we can't cure your disease, but we have an alternative. Hook yourselves back into our virtual construct."

Of course, this is an explanation given by the same individual who, in the story Theodicy, claimed that the Enheduanni were, in fact, enemies of the Jove.

i've always thought of the enheduanni as the people who were once the "upper class" of the jove, before the close of the gate. Also, i was under the impression that the polaris frigate flown by the GM was an enheduanni vessel, and the lore explanation for ccp and the gm was that they were the enheduanni, manipulating the empires

This.

It is a very well written book, and at times had a hard time putting it down. Books like this just serve to make the game feel more alive.

There is one major problem with the story and it’s a rather large plot hole or just doesn’t make sense to me. The Enheduanni/Sleeper are massively more advanced than the Jove. So why are the sleepers so primitive and easy to beat? If the Enheduanni are so advanced why are the buildings so rundown and primitive? If Gallante can have drones maintained a star base without humans why can the much more advanced Enheduanni not do the same?

For a race that lives in time dilation and can invent, create and research new technology at incredible speed far beyond the Jove I have to wonder why the Sleepers are so low tech? Where is all this advanced technology? Why are the sleeper drones not useing the Enheduanni technology? Why would Enheduanni use Enheduanni technology in empire space but not use the same Enheduanni technology in w-space?

Why would there be few Enheduanni left? They are not suffering from the disease that plagues the Jove, they have the technology to cure the disease as they have complete mastery of genetics and mastery of the human brain far in advanced of the Jove. To top if off they have all those pre disease frozen bodys and a VR world with time dilation to fix the problem. Also the Enheduanni do hold territory. The story is the Enheduanni left Jove space and the Jove migrated to follow them. After a while the Enheduanni got fed up and stoped the jove following them which is why the Jove are in the current systems. The current Jove systems are the spot were the Jove stoped migrating after the Enheduanni.

That sort of suggest in a way The Talocan might have been early Enheduanni migrating away from known space towards W-space then one settled down the Talocan become the Sleepers which explains the Sleeper tech inside Talocan ships. The only problem is the technology is far too primitive.
