If you're trying to mine most of your own minerals for manufacturing, you're doing it wrong.

I make quite a nice profit from my small-scale mining ops -- I can rarely get more than 2 corpies out in the belts at any given time, but even so, we clear 500M or more ISK per week. On intensive mining ops when I've got the whole crew busy and an Orca or 2 providing boosts, we can easily clear 500-700M ISK per *day*. And that's in high sec space, going after bog-standard ores like Veld, Pyrox, Plag, and Scord.

I also have a manufacturing concern, but I set buy orders for my minerals - I never try to mine all of (or even most of) my own supply. Oh, I might use a stack of stuff that I've had stockpiled if prices are way down, but that hasn't been the case for a good long while. In fact, I'm finding it more lucrative to be a miner than a manufacturer these days, which is a first in my EVE career!

People playing EVESOLO Online with 5 accounts is the reason why PLEX price must be raised to 1 bil.

Or couldn't you just spread the wealth out? Introduce hidden or isolated regions that have INSENTIVE to allow a new economy to grow. Or simply introduce game changing events that throw trade hubs in the shitter. Pirate

I find manufacturing a somewhat extra passive income addon to mining.
about 80% of the minerals going to market, 15% going into manufacturing doing about 10-15% gross (mainly because hauling a full manufacturing freighter invites a gank), and 5% saved on the side in case prices suddenly spike up or I need extra isk for some reason.

This is not the 100B a week done by afk farming for FW, but its honest work.

If PLEX is going up in price and the supply is constant. It seems like it is the demand for PLEX is inflating the price. Not the "inflation" of ISK. I'm not saying that inflation isn't a factor, but I think demand is probably a larger factor. Especially if EVE has grown in population since last year.

demand is spiking at the moment because of the 'oh no! plex is rising! i need to get 20 before it goes to 1b!' which in turn reduces the amount of plex being sold and increases the price yet again. The 'spike' should subside in a week or two and drop down a bit to a new plateu level.

This most likely a result of DUST 514

inflation is NOT the cause of the recent exponential rise in plex prices
look at tritanium, look at the price of basic industrial goods, look at the price of mining barges, all have gone DOWN

we are seeing the equivalent of the housing bubble right here in eve!

every channel i've been in I hear the same thing "oh man PLEX has gone up 20% in the past few weeks, how high could it get!? plex is a great investment just look at how fast its going up! I should buy PLEX!"

I said it once, I'll say it again, people are not buying plex not for the underlying value of the asset (30 days of game-time) but because they believe they will be able to flip the PLEX for more ISK shortly.

you see the exact same mob psychology in the real world, no one is willing to consider the possibility that PLEX could go down in value drastically, if you look at the curve for the value of PLEX you can see the bubble feeding on itself.

I just hate that their is no way to short-sell Plex in this game, if their was I would make an absolute fortune

The two main driving factors I see at present are FW plexing with its insane income level, and the $10k Open Tournament. I'm sure there are people around the EVE universe divesting themselves of all kinds of items they were holding in storage, just so they can buy the PLEX required to enter the tournament and win some real money (oh, and some prestige of course, because winning a $1000 prize would never be about the money).

According to Massively, the average bid for a place in Alliance Tournament X was 38 PLEX. The only prize from ATX was reputation, a few ingame special items, and the fun of appearing on EVE TV (when it was up).

I would be surprised if the Open Tournament bids aren't far more competitive with real, live, money on the table.
