So I've been ratting in my new Vagabond in blood raider space. Even using my PvP fit, I've been able to deal with belt rats and some of the easier anoms no sweat, thanks to EM ammo and the fabulous T2 minnie resists. However, yesterday a few friends and I found a 6/10 and decided to run it at some ungodly hour in the morning. We had a Damnation for tank, but due to the intense neuting, he had to warp out a few times, and things got a little dicey once aggro fell onto my Vaga. The guns didn't scare me nearly so much as the neuting did. Nevertheless, we prevailed and walked out with a nice drop that netted us each a few hundred million.

Naturally, I began wondering what kind of ship, if any, could allow me to not need to share the loot, or in other words, solo the plex. I've got decent scanning skills, and for the sake of the thread, assume I can get nearly any ship running with T2 weapons and tank. What would you recommend for scanning and running (solo) lowsec sites, if possible?

I'd rather keep the pimping to a minimum, because lowsec, and if I must use a separate ship for the scanning then so be it. The question remains, what ship, if any, can solo Blood 5-6/10 plexes, and what would you recommend for lowsec exploration and why.

Ishtar, Legion, and Tengu have no problems. Loki and Proteus should be fine as well.

The only neuts in the 6/10 comes from Corpus Harbingers and only go out to 30km, so kiting them is easy once you know to look for them. They only appear in the second room. Oh, and while I hate to admit it, you don't have to blow the tower in the third room.

5/10s are dicey in the last room. Best to be able to snip the overseer at 50km, bookmark, and get the **** out. Harbingers and Archbishops neut but aren't always present.

Broadsword can get a pretty high passive tank on blood raider/sansha rats. Warp in an oracle behind it and mash the plex.

Not today spaghetti.

Well damn, I feel dumb for shooting that stupid tower now. My only concern is that it seems like when you enter the room with the tower in, you're already pretty close to some of the battleships. Is my memory playing tricks or would I probably have to endure a cycle or two of neuts while burning away?

pasive tanked loki or tengu with a small deadspace shield booster = easy

There are no neut BSs in the third room. In the second room there are two web towers and you can land close to a neut BS (or rarely two) but the towers are out of range so you just have to move away.

And yeah, I've run my share of 6/10s with the first three rooms cleared except for the Crimson Sentinel. Just have to burn to the gate though.

I've kind of started this discussion in a nearby thread, but is it really cost effective to solo stuff? I am thinking that the isk/hr of doing sites with others is far more cost effective, because your main dpsers can put more slots into DPS and your main tanks/disruptors can do the same. You can even bring in a support/looter for even more optimum blitzing. I've yet to really try this though.

This. If you could get a steady stream of 6/10s (or even 5/10s, or some other combat sites) then a group would almost certainly do better. But on days when there's nothing out there the whole group suffers. I haven't done a comparison but my sense is solo work is actually more profitable on an ISK / char * hr basis.

This, if you wanna group for lowsec plexes and sites you need like 5-8 guys in T3s for it to be worthwhile. Basically, what you want is a group setup with 2-3 probers that really knows their **** and can scan fast, as well as 3\5 guys running the plexes themselves. Probers should be set up in T3s with interdiction nullifiers, covops cloak, WCs and expanded probe launchers.

Any less then this and youre better off solo + scout. Also, be prepared you might end up in null.
