I like RvB, they have always been fun when they rolled out to our areas and engaged us.

I agree, reading is apparently hard.

1) I plainly stated that a member recommended me after knowing that I wanted a training corp.
2) I have been playng for ONE-******-WEEK....I have no ****** idea how to set up overviews. I'm still trying to understand damage types and the pros and cons of missiles.

You have lost less than I have blown on ammo this week. The best advice anyone can give you is don't get attached to your spaceships.

I'll say this and be done;

I'm simply wanting brand new players about what they're getting into. A BRAND NEW player may not know where to go to research a corp and read what they do, so they will be susceptible to being routed into a corp that's fronted as a training corporation, but in reality will put them in danger 24/7 and they don't know why. They wont know why they're being podded while doing missions or mining Veld. They think they're going to be trained. When in reality they're simply being thrown into a mosh pit. Nothing wrong with that, as long as the new player KNOWS. That's all I'm asking, but of course the folks with 7 figure SP's are quick to run their mouths because they have it easy now; they understand the game. Now they can sit up and laugh at those of us who struggle to get to where they are. It's all good. I deal with losers like that all of the time. This thread wasn't for them. This thread is for that random newb wanting to learn PvP and wanting join join some folks that will actually help him learn and not instead throw him in a den of Wolves with a ****** steak around his neck and call that "instructing".

My son recently started playing Eve and wanted to learn PvP so i built him 25 merlins for him and told him to join RvB. He's having a ball with them and doing rather well and learning.

Wow. I don't even know how to describe the wrongness in this thread. First, you seem to have a major attitude - If you want to go anywhere in this game, HTFU and learn how to take a loss. Second, third party wartarget. If you can't be assed to figure out how to differentiate them and the other alliance involved in rvb, you deserve to be blown up. There is a massive guide (Written by the almighty and amazing Mangala Solaris Pirate ) ALL in the welcome email(s) about how to set this up before you even undock. Sorry you can't read.

I joined RvB like 3 or 4 days like after I started playing EvE, after being referred to them in the rookie channel. I figured it out, didn't ***** on the forums when I died, and now I have a great understanding of PvP ~6 months later, all thanks to them.

You have an ego bigger than most of the theater performance majors in my major, and an even worse ability to concentrate and learn what the hell you're supposed to do, and thus, have no pity for you.

RvB isn't a teaching corporation that'll hold your hand. Sure, they'll give newbies some free stuff and some people will help out in noobfleet, and that provides a limited safety net. But if you won't even read the couple pages of heads-up threads that are supposed to help you acclimate...why are you even here?

EDIT: Xpaulus, you're the best dad ever! Big smile

OP is entitled to winning every pvp encounter in his first week, right? right?

Also, whoever said RvB was a training corp was trolling you. We welcome new players, but our teaching method is very much of the "throw em into the deep end of the pool and see if you can swim" school

Sorry but none of that is true. By the time my account was your age I was cutting through nullsec in a rifter. I lost my first expensive and hard to replace ship (A drake!!!) within my first month. And this was during a period when our nearest enemies were right on our doorstep and roving games were the norm, not the exception. I'm not poo-pooing you because I don't understand being a newbie in constant danger. I'm poo-pooing you because you don't understand that being in constant danger is a big part of what Eve is about. It's an unfriendly and uncaring universe, and no one here is going to give a crap about you losing your T1 ship that will literally take fifteen minutes to replace.

I think honestly that RvB is a great place to be new, because it will teach you the most important thing about eve: That it's a game, and space ships don't matter. Enjoy the explosions.

You are going to lose ships.

You are going to lose expensive ships (So far my worst death has been a billion isk incursion running ship).

You can either get mad about it and petulantly whine about it on the forums, at which point we're all going to make fun of you...

Or you can climb into a rifter and make the ******* eat it.

Your choice dude.

Hey bro....that's awesome.

...now if we could give ALL new players 25 merlins when they start, I'm sure things would go well for them too.

What's that you say???

We DON'T all have a dad who's established and able to give them millions of isk and free ships???

Whaaaaat....?

Well nevermind then.

I'm going to bed.

Buy a GTC and sell it, you'll still be sitting on a rifter stockpile when you are training hacs.

Tell the whole story dude, don't do that whole "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps", Republican BS with me. EVERYONE in this game had help SOMEHOW when they started, but nevermind, I'm out. As I said this thread was for fellow newbs. I could give a **** what you others think. Unsubbed.

This isn't the experience I had. People were always willing to answer questions in corp and R-V-B. Did you join their noobfleet channel? They'll give you ships and (I think) skillbooks. By the way, if you're learning PvP, fly frigates.

Lectures and all that don't actually teach you anything. Keep getting out there and losing ships. You learn a lot from failure.

I think you should talk to a team leader about the podding - the other player I think is expected to replace the loss or be kicked.

People learn differently. I actually learn a lot from E-Uni's lectures in their archives. As I posted before, the only thing keeping me from E-Uni is the ridiculous app process.
As I said in your other thread - try OUCH. They actually have classes.

We were poor when I joined and mentors was in shambles, I used a single rifter from the frig cache and I fit out the rest from my salvaging earnings (Give or take 30m an hour).

Peacetime reimbursement wasn't a thing yet so I didn't get any money for my drake loss, but I wouldn't have gotten any money for it anyways because it was a ratting drake.

I'm sorry you have it so rough. I'm going to light a candle in my window for you tonight little pubbie.

Huge number of serious replies, legit whinerage with a couple of feeble attemps of trying to explain your point of view. Been a while since such a pro troll.
