We are here today to reaffirm our position of support for miners, the friendly and hard working pilots who are struggling to support the mineral needs of pilots all across New Eden. From the pilot just starting out mining in a procurer to the advanced miner using Mackinaws and Hulks. We are all one and the same. We are brothers.

For years our colleagues have been under constant attack by groups of vicious pod pilots. These animals have repeatedly condemned, belittled, and outright attacked miners. This assault on our way of life serves to make miners a victim and leads them down the path of helplessness if nothing is done. We must not let that happen.

To combat this, the mining barge researchers have finally changed our beloved mining vessels for the better. They are now tougher, bring in high yields, and can hold more ore in our holds. This is a good thing for all New Eden pilots who make mining their profession. Our ships will last longer out in the fields as we ply our trade. We can all agree this is a wonderful change that has been a long time coming.

Reading that last part may make you feel warm and secure in your newly improved vessels. Don't fall into that trap.

Miners are now under attack in the form of our yields. Yes, the very thing our industry has streamlined to bring more work to our profession and make it more profitable, all while making our minerals cheaper for the common pod pilot, is under attack. We must not stand for this new smear campaign my brothers. They are the enemy. They are trying to weaken us. They are saying we produce too much. I say we don't produce enough. By standing together we can stop the onslaught, bigotry, and hatred of our profession.

Miners everywhere, Unite!

I think CCP forgot to give your new ok-tank, massive cargohold ships a massive yield.

Better remind them to get that done, lest they go and do things like change FW, missiles and so on.

if I didn't have to stockpile or sell my mins at inflated prices to make sure I can cover ship losses ships would be a lot cheaper.

PvPers who love blowing up miners cant seem to understand the logic of that.

By "unite" he means "mine all the same crap and unload it on the market at the same time. Preferably for the lowest price found on the market window so your sale goes right through."

Isn't there supposed to be "strength in unity" or something like that? I wonder what causes that to be inverted here?

Probably negative pressure.

Dear Sir,

We do understand your concern for our profits and we thank you for taking the time to voice those concerns.

Mining and production are a careful balancing act. It is true that producing more than the economy can absorb will be detrimental to those of the mining profession. The inexperienced may have a tendency to panic sell once they start seeing prices fall, thus adding even more downward price pressure on a miners very life blood, the minerals.

We contend this is simply an opportunity for even more profit.

As such, our belief and our goals are geared to maximize yields. Maximizing yields will increase profits even when prices start going down. How is this possible? It sounds absolutely illogical doesnt it.

As prices come down on minerals, everything made with them becomes cheaper as a result. Now, I dont know about you, but when something is cheaper I have a tendency to buy more of it. When people buy more of what we produce, and things made with what we produce, our profits will simply increase via sheer volume. Higher mining yields makes this type of scenario possible.

Thank-you for your interest.

Sincerely,

Olleybear

I suppose if you're going to whine and whine on the forums like all the other miners at least you have put effort into typing out something relatively readable, even if it's not agreeable.

As a non-miner, i myself have witnessed the inexplicable hatred of miners from lowsec players and pirates in general. I assume this is mearly to justify them exploding you. I've always viewed it as a vital profession, and the backbone of the entire EvE economy.

Thus, i agree and support the changes that have made cowardly highsec gankers life more difficult.

Long may you mine in peace!

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

I am a carebear and actually enjoy mining.

Gankers who gank miners for lulz will find a way to keep doing it if they want. Those that hunted bots were doing all of Eve and the mining community a tremendous favor even with intentional or unintentional collateral damage.

What bugs me is all the past whining about how ganking mechanics were not fair to miners, the term "legitimate miners" sticks in my head. Endless cries of barges need buffed so we can survive the evils of Eve finally got the mining community some changes that added utility across a broader base of mining dedicated ships. Including one with a massive hold and one with a massive tank.

CCP even gave huge hints in the form of ship setup to PUT a TANK on the boat.

Reading the initial tone in the forums when that changed it all sounded to me like "yay we can afk mine all we want".

Sigh.

Please, please, please stop posting this kind of crap. I even had to check the date expecting it to be a necro'd thread. Your desire for mods (I assume) that give you a bottomless ore hold, single cycle asteroid belt depletion and impenetrable tank are not good for the mining community or Eve. Your economic explanation is so based in fantasy, it must have been written by a unicorn horn.

Please stop, you just make all miners look bad.
