What "level" would the hardest null-sec exploration complexes be equivalent to?

I presume DED 10/10 is like the hardest...

How does this compare to level 4 missions?

What about DED 1/10?

What kind of ships you normally need, and which level can be reasonably solo'ed?

I would say you can solo most DED rated complexes up to 8/10. 10/10 would probably require at least a tank and logi combination. 1/10 can probably be soloed by a t1 frigate. It varies a lot on the complex though. Highly recommend researching the one you're going to run before starting. A lot of them have gimmicks to them to make them harder: things like extreme-self repping structures to structures firing high damage torps doing damage different than the NPCs in the plex.

As the previous poster said, do some homework on the plex, it'll save your butt in the long run. And as for the difficulty of the sites, they all can be soloed, but anything over 6 is going to be really hard if you don't have a great fit, and 9s and 10s you'll need a pretty perfect setup, usually a Tengu.

For most sites though, they're not horribly hard if you look up the site (just google "eve, *site name*" and you'll get the info) and watch yourself. I've run every sight I've found in highsec (except Angel Watch, due to massive incoming DPS at the start) with either an Ishkur (Min, Gal, Cal space) or Wolf (Amarr space) without any real issues. But all the sites can be done with T1 ships of the right size and a good fit.

1/10 can be reliably completed in anything that can shoot. Also, anything larger than a frigate will not fit through the door.

In, my humble opinion, I would compare a 6/10 to a lvl 4 mission. A 8/10 would be a pretty hard lvl 4. A 10/10 will blast your ship away if you don't know what you're stepping into.

I think that's generally fair, but it's also misleading. Complexes post challenges that L4s don't (even setting aside the fact that 5/10 and higher don't spawn in hisec). Overseers (complex bosses, if you will) don't have any real equivalent in missions, often sporting huge range-dependent tanks and odd resistances. It really is best to check each plex (or, you know, just try it).

I find DED 4/10s to be similar to easy L4s and 5/10s to be a bit harder than hard 5/10s. Exploration sites (more the unrated ones, Vigils/Annexes etc) tend to throw out a lot more EWAR than missions. I remember my first Blood Minor Annex... I warped in and the next thing I knew I was webbed to 0m/s and neuted to 0 cap...

As for ships, as a minimum I'd guess:
1/10: T1 frigs
3/10: Cruiser, AFs or navy frigs
4/10: depends on which 4/10, but generally BC (or cruiser if you really know what you're doing)
5/10: heavily tanked BC with decent skills
upwards from that it varies way too much depending on which site

The higher complexes tend to be more like Incursion sites and can take up to 10 people to complete it in a decent amount of time. (COSMOS style 10/10's like the Rakogh Administration Complexā€ˇ in 3GD6-8 can be tough).

Though generally they are done with smaller crews that have more SP on 'em - it's the space they are in.

10/10's... like a L5, but with gates.

Serpentis: Tankable with an Ishtar/Tengu
Gurristas: Tankable with an Ishtar/Tengu/Loki
Sanshas/Blood: Tankable with a Loki/ishtar
Angels: Tankable with a Legion
Rogue Drones: Tankable with a Tengu/Legion

Get other ships to DPS it.
