I wouldn't mind using a plex for a new skin for my ships. I still want my hello kitty abaddon or absolution =(

1 plex = ONE skin for ONE ship.

Not how a company makes money. You make the cost less significant so many more people think "why not, it doesn't cost much, I'll drink one less soda this week" not "****, I could play for another month on that, who in their right mind would get that?" and have a very small group using a whole skin system.
Now, work in cheap skins with super rare special skins worth one plex, like in AUR. that works both angles.

If you had a custom paint shop available, you'd expect to pay for said paint job with ISK.

If that's the case, why not ALSO throw in the option to pay for it with cash since it's purely cosmetic.

In EVE, this is a micro transaction... the ability to pay for something that gives no advantage with either ISK or cash.

I'm not too fond of the idea because it will reduce the visual identity of the 4 races. Plus there's the chance for things to get very garish like in that video that was posted on the first page. However I would love to remove the camouflage from all of my ships...

I think I'd rather see corp logos on ships, as well as a more in-depth system of overlapping shapes to create the logos in the first place. Something like the system in APB. I was having fun overlapping shapes in Eve's logo generator the other day:

But the number of shapes to play with is limited, most shapes don't work well with others, you can only use three layers maximum, can't change their positioning or size, etc.

It might be cool to have decals like the fighter plane style sharks mouth to spray paint onto you ship, but there is so much variety in the shape of the hulls in game I wonder if that would work out well or not.
