If people go by 'which version is spoken by the most people', neither British or American English has a look in.

Just look at Indians, or the Chinese

If you spot any errors in-game, then please submit a bug report and provide as much detail as possible. In almost every patch, there are updates being made to fix such issues.

This would fall under "bug report," wouldn't it?

Right you are. I edited the ISD's post to avoid confusion.

The British spelling is English. The american vocabulary is well, something else.

Just to clear up any confusion.. we use the standard American English spelling in EVE. Other things to look out for and submit bug reports about:

EVE should always be spelled in all caps
When writing in reference to the Amarr religion, capitalize “God.” If it is used in a more general sense, do not capitalize it.
Faction names are always capitalized
The plural noun and the possessive adjective of the different races generally should not end with –ian or –ean. (A group of Amarr - never a group of Amarrians)

Alright I'll be nice and submit bug reports going forward for typos like this. Not nearly as entertaining as forum posts though. Big smile I found another one in the static data export but I don't think that particular text appears in game so it's likely a moot issue.

We have several very skilled editors in-house, they just don't have time to look at every sentence in the game right now. If you do spot errors, please file a bug report and they will get fixed (I know this because I fix a lot of them myself).

this!

I know this because I make some of those errors and then have to clean up my own mess when someone nice bug reports it Blink

also, it's not very nice to be mad at an Icelandic brogrammer who can't spell everything correctly!!

What about "Mattari"? I've always sorta liked that one.

But I'm not CCP Soundwave, so what do I know?

In addition to having an economist on staff, CCP would do well to have someone with expert grammatical skills, one for each localized client available, review all of the text in the game. Still quite a few ridiculous errors. Here's one - post if you spot others. Perhaps we could inspire them to clean this up in the meantime.

Molting Season
The description of the typical unit seems to fit reality pretty well, assuming this was a typical colonization unit. A short inspection of the tracking device shows there is no time to loose, now there are two units in range, the closest one at location...

Well the key difference is this is a forum whereas EVE is a commercial product. The latter obviously needs far more review and polish. Excuses for poor craftsmanship, even if it's just wordsmithing, should be met with at least some disdain. Take pride in what you do professionally and get it right before it's seen by the world.

Oh really? Like Pax Amarria? Twisted Sounds like I should file a bug report to have it "corrected" to Pax Amarr (per CCP Affinity).

I have 2 Amarrians on this account, your argument is invalid.

The only appropriate plural for them is "slaves", never capitalized.

Matari is official CCP IIRC.

Also, regarding -ian/-ean/-s, I'd like to submit a bug report regarding Templar One. That book is full of Gallenteans, Gallentes, Amarrs, Amarrians, Minmatars, and even some Caldaris, I believe. It was almost painful.

That book title is in Old Amarr, it's perfectly legit.

People from Michigan are actually referred to as "Michiganders."

This is unfortunate and should discourage any developer from starting a race the name for whose native space ends in "gan."

Unless it's "Hooligan" because "Hooliganders" sounds pretty awesome.
