Hey guys,

So after skilling into a Loki I finally set my sights on running 5/10 plexes. I am having some trouble with getting setup though because I am not sure how much of a tank I need. I've tried googling to find this information, but have never been able to find anything.

Currently my Loki tanks 533 DPS from Blood Raiders. Neuting hasn't seemed to impact my fit very much yet (even when I was <20km from 8 Blood Raider Battleships) so either I am pretty lucky or the fit is working pretty well. My gun ranged is about 12km which makes Stasis towers a complete pain in the butt.

If I could get some tips it would be much appreciated ("Get a Tengu" is not a good tip. I can only fly Minmatar).

This is the fit I am working with at the moment. I'm considering keeping a PSA + 220mm + drones in the cargo so I can switch out for more DPS. I'm new to my area of low sec though so I am keeping the cloak till I learn the locals and such.

Cap stable. 351 DPS. 533 Tank vs Blood Raiders. Once I do a little bit more training I'll be able to drop the CCC rig for another screen that will boost my tank to a flat 600.

Thanks

I tried a 5/10 once (guristas), the incoming dps peaked around 1700, and in a battleship (RNI) I only had time to kill one rat before I had to warp out.

A small ship should have an easier time because of higher speed and lower sig radius, but there does seem to be huge jump in difficulty from 4/10 to 5/10.

Hobgoblin x5

A few notes
- My fit uses burst tank rather than active tank so it requires more attention then yours but has the ability to recover quickly if you get your transversal messed up (Obviously switch out hardeners depending on the complex).

- Whatever you do, I highly recomend using the amplification node rather than adaptive shielding, in reality it helps you tank much better when moving all-out. It also makes you harder to scan down if anyone drops combat probes (Dssolution Sequencer is there for the same reason).

- Take along barrage ammo and slap on a couple of tracking enhancers to hit the web towers in the last room (around 40km away)

- I'm using another ship for scanning

538 DPS including drones (1.95km + 29.5km range)
725.9 DPS sustained tank vs Blood
800.8 DPS Burst Tank vs Blood

Last per the last message, but an extra tip.

As your in lowsec you have station access. Use covert ops mode when your scanning. When you find a site dock, switch to combat subsystems and go to complete the Plex. Hold mods in cargo and ur only take an extra few moments to reshape, increasing your DPS/range.

Once completed, simply dock and reconfigure and off you go in covert. Works great.

- Grab lowgrade crystals for extra rep if needed.
- Try out a medium booster fit. T2 boosters can tank most Gurista plexs

You need a friend to help you out. I can provide logi or damage support if you'd like. Just let me know when and where.

Test server is your friend.

Seriously, not being rude. I did that to see if some of my ships/setups would handle particular sites. Theoretical DPS/EHP numbers are one thing. Actual incoming damage (factoring sig radius, speed tank, etc) is another.

Hey stop theorycrafting and just fly out there to test things ffs :D

Your tank should be just fine (generally speaking you don't simply tank full room aggros in plexes like in AFK missioning, control the range, speed and sig tank) but what you need to test is whether you can break the Overseer tank with that dps.

Haha, I'm not theory crafting. I am testing my fits. It just helps when you know where the baseline should be set at. My previous fit was okay... up until I'd get to the last room. My tank could not keep up when I was webbed (My tank was 415 DPS then).
