why have you named your corp suspiciously close to Chribba's corp?

I see a lot of potential for abuse with this setup.

Hi.

My corp name isn't 'suspiciously' close to Chribba's, it just happens to be along similar lines. This is just an alt corp I created so my trade characters could share a corp wallet instead of constantly moving ISK between them. I am in no way affiliated with Chribba and nor do I claim to be. I am more than happy publicly stating this :-). I apologise if you somehow came to see it this way.

In terms of the potential for abuse, would you mind elaborating on that? I do not require any sensitive information from users and in no way act as an ISK holding service. It's just a simple service where you can create an auction and have people bid on that auction. I'm not sure where or how I can be abusive but if you let me know perhaps it is something that I can address.

Trade King.

Hi guys.

I have an auction currently running with a low starting bid. This is a good chance to test out the site and possibly get a cheap ship hull!

Check it out here.

Hi, I registered and the site works good enough for me. I have a suggestion and an offer for you. I can see that you scripted this website on your own and used EVE API. ( I don't know about API yet.)

You should add a notice right under the password form saying:
"It is recommended that the password you enter is different from your actual EVE game account."
That way the user would earn more trust on the website, and for other reasons such as if the database is accessed by a "malicious person" he could grab all the account from the table in the database and brute force each of them. (Account Hijacking)

I also want to offer you a service, redesigning the website. I am experienced with Adobe Photoshop and html/css with a little bit of PHP. If you are interested I can design it, show it to you and if you like it then we can begin the converting process. It will cost you a good amount of ISK though :p.

Oh and are the account password encrypted?

Aren't you afraid that the real Ebay will come down on you like a ton of bricks? I really like the idea and once you get it up and running I plan on using it a lot.

I don't think they can, and its not worth the time. Besides its not like Trade King is making money out of EVE-Bay.

Hi Arthur.

Thanks for the feedback!

I like the advice on the notice, I will see what I can incorporate. I agree it could help make the site look more trusting.

I realise that my UI/design skills absolutely suck :-) This is one thing that I can't teach myself no matter how hard I try. I'm sure this is obvious from my terrible Microsoft Paint effort at a website logo :-p

In terms of security yes the passwords are encrypted, I never store them in plain text. Each user has a unique salt generated and assigned to them which is then used along with their password to be hashed. I have done some considerable reading on this aspect of security and followed best practices.

The only Idea I can come up is registration fee, you can either charge ISK or real money. But I recommend to charge in ISK. User account will be activated once registration fee is sent and activation code as well. You can check wallet journal for payment proof.

Hi everyone!

I have done some more work on Eve Bay and have now updated the site.

We have a completely overhauled UI which now looks great (feedback welcome) and have some serious code improvements in the background.

Check it out HERE.

Thanks!

Don't expect any serious trader/industrialist to use it though.
The information extracted from each user can be used to stitch up a picture of the market or a particular player's trend - despite whatever assurances given.
It can be used as an intel tool, something that an average/newbie player may not fully grasp.

This is aimed more at replacing higher value items sold in the sell order forum, not as a general day to day trading site.

All the items anyone would sell there can be traced back to the owner any way so use of the site wouldn't expose any more data than using the forum would.

Thanks for the feedback though.
