Now pepie think Likes are an indication of intent and sales somehow.

Actually, if you do some reading around the Internet, which you could do without FB, might I add, you'd see that people actually care about FB likes. They care a lot.

So just because a handful of EVE players are terrified of FB and live behind 37 proxies and 128 firewalls and think the government is trying to steal their idenity, doesn't mean everyone is as tin-foil hat-loving as you.

Welcome to 2012.

And to the derper calling likes fake, your hat has a few holes in it. No company in the right mind would spend the amount of money you would need in order to garner that many likes. People like videogames, deal with it.

It's funny to watch people bash FB because it is the cool thing to do. The EVE community is so dang hip.....

I do not like the men on this spaceship. They are uncouth and fail to appreciate my better qualities. I have something of value to contribute to this mission if only they would realize it. - Bill Frug

Also if u notice the "Talking about this" parameter, it shows how our community is lot more active than that in PS2. PS2 even having 10k likes more (btw DUST caught another 5k likes since i opened this topic), it has 4 times "TAT" less (5k "talking about this" against 20k of DUST).

"Talking about this" is ppl liking, commenting, sharing, mentioning, tagging etc. the page. Like always New Eden community above all other :DD.

Dust having "TAT" stat so much bigger than the one from PS2 will prolly mean that it will catch PS2 in likes pretty soon because lot more ppl are "talking about it" obviously :DDD. It can also show a hype for the game too. I predict a nice opening for DUST because 20% of "talking about this" is pretty rare and good indicator.

I ll show some % of "Talking about this" of other games:

World of Tanks 9%
EVE 7%
PS2 has 5%
League of legends 3,85%
WOW 3,8%
GW2 3,4%
Rift 0,5%
TERA 0,45%
SWOTOR 0,42%
GW 0,3%

Take in mind that the longer a page is on FB this indicator drops slowl. EVE got some 20k likes in this month only i think.

In conclusion. If u want more ppl trying New Eden, really, spam on FB. Like, share comment, tag. FB might be lame but it can be a really powerful tool.

So u say that is better to have less likes or maybe even 0. Your reasoning is a bit odd. Well i tell you. It is way better to have 100k likes than 50k what was like 1-2 months ago. it means more ppl are interesed in it, more ppl know aobut it and some more will get to know about ti from those new 50k likes. The more likes the more it will spread, simple reasoning.
And yeah 100k likes is a nice milestone in FB world.

This is not about "coolness". People without FB has simple common sense because they know how can be your personal information abused. (this also applies for Apple products or google account). And dont think that those people dont socialize. They do..... via encrypted software and chanels, not because they are criminals, but because they appreciate their privacy.

If they had that, they'd be able to use FB just fine.

Well hearing u say that marketing is a BS tells me a lot how ignorant u are. And Apple was never known for its marketing skillz. U heared the last one "Samsung has everything we got but its cheaper". If u mentioned Cola than maybe u d have a point. Those guys built an empire on marketing even tough on blind tests ppl voted for other drinks to be lot better.

And for your answer, nah never had an apple product. I dont even know what else they have appart iphone and ipad? Poor marketing is poor marketing.

And again what "Gullibility to marketing BS and a stunning inability to look beyond the shiny" has to do with DUST getting 100k likes?

That is correct, but we all know that FB is constantly introducting "features" that you cannot control your privacy in full scale. Not mentioning about deleting your account completely.

So you are saying that if someone who dont use FB is automaticaly asocial? Roll (just question... are you from US?)

There is a difference between:
1. stepping out from your house
and
2. stepping out from your house with your ID information written on your shirt, pin code written on your Bank card and all your hobbies, faminly members and pets displayed on your cap. Blink

…and the common-sense approach is to not include any private stuff in what they can access, so no matter what features they implement, they get squat.

No. I'm saying that if the only “socialising” you do is through encrypted software and channels, then you need to get over your phobia of stepping outside and meeting people. A lot of socialising is about giving up privacy and engaging openly with the world around you.

Being secretive has its time and place, but if you're doing it all the time, you're suffering from something. This is no different in the digital age.

Mate if someone wants to know some info about u they ll get to know it even if u r not using FB. But again i say, if ppl can live without FB they are better without. But the reason is not that u are giving up your privacy. The reason is that your brain cells dry up from all the moronic content it offers. But that thingy is a big part of my job and i learned to use it in the right way, flow of news and information and connecting with my friends abroad.

And DUST surpassed EVE by amount of Likes on FB. DUST has some 15% more Likes than EVE and some 70% more than PS2. It is not even out yet, so i d say GJ till now.
