Eve has sound?

I know this is a long standing joke in Eve, but for me, it was more of a statement than a question.

My hearing is not terribly good, (high frequency nerve deafness) but, finally science has caught up with my hearing, and today I was provided with some new digital hearing aids invented by some Swedish chap.

Yes, Eve does have sound, even the music sounds great.

I obviously take Eve far too seriously, when one fo the first things I have done with my new 'ears' is play Eve to find out what it sounds like.

I don't know how sever high frequency nerve deafness is, but I saw a video of a woman who was completely deaf or very near it when she was being given a new hearing aid-impant thing for the first time and the video was just incredible, its amazing what science can do.

Would have loved to see a webcam recording of u plugging in the new ears for the first time

It means for example, that I have never heard high pitched sounds such as birds singing, a referee's whistle in a game or indeed parts of the human voice which, as I can now hear, is a mixture of pitches including the higher frequencies.

Last night I went over to my local shop in the rain to buy a few bits with my' new ears' in.

I could hear the strange sort of 'popping' noise on the hood of my jacket. It was the sound of the rain drops hitting my hood.

I had actually stopped in the middle of the street to try to work out what this new sound was. lol

My doctor has told me that it will take quite some time for my brain to learn how to associate new sounds with their source.

Tihis is something most folk do whilst growing up as children.

I will now have to learn all this at the age of 57.

Oh, and light switches actually make a very sharp high pitched sharp clicking noise here in the UK when you activate them. Horrible.

Peoples voices sound so different to me me now. I am not sure if I like how they sound yet.

Fun and interesting times ahead for me.

I forgot to mention.

When I first put my new ears in, I asked the doctor is she would turn off the nearby generator. She looked around and explained that what I thought was a generator, was in fact the sound of heavy rain on the windows.

She started to cry when she saw the look of astonishment and wonder on my face.

This sounds like a life changing experience.

I can imagine, to an extent how people out there in wheelchairs when they get prosthetic legs and walk for the first time. I remember lots of thrilling moments in my life, mountain biking, rockclimbing, climbing An Teallach but I bet its nothing compared.

Its something people take for granted when their body works well.

that is absolutly amazing to hear. Things that we take for granted like hearing the whole range of sound, or sound or any kind, is amazing to see people of an oldr age perform for the first time. Congratulations glad to read such a happy story in a world where bad new reins supreme!

Congrats, bro! :) I hope they have kit like that for whatever goes wrong with me when I'm old...

...I was going to link a video with some very loud very high-pitched singing here, but that would probably be a bit uncomfortable.
