Attribute remap for skill plan

Would it be more prudent to Remap skills to focus on Willpower and Perception first, to get all the skills that I need to pilot most any ship I would want first, or remap to something like Intelligence and Memory and just get all my electronics and other stuff first?

Right now I'm just mining Veldspar in an Osprey pooling up ISK for implants, I don't plan on focusing on mining though, I'm interested in branching off into Exploration and just use mining to lay down a reliable income till I can do exploration effectively and turn a profit.

Any suggestions on remaps or skill plans?

Until you've gotten your feet firmly on the ground, and know what your mid-term goal is, I'd recommend maintaining a balanced attribute distribution. It may not be the best long term plan, but in the early months, it's usually the best idea. You'll be training a wide variety of skills, and if you specialize your remap too early, it may cause a wee bit of frustration. Lol

Wut?!

I don't know, with the year's end approaching, seems like a good time to just jump right in. I'd have 3-4 remaps by the end of December, I could just jump in and get my Charisma based skills out of the way and then remap to Perception=Intelligence, that remap alone seems like it would keep me occupied for a long, long time. Those two primaries influence a lot of skills that are right up my ally.

Or you may be right, the remaps aren't going anywhere. I could just finish Cybernetics IV and just take +4 implants all around and train broadly till I know better what to spec in.

cant go wrong with perception and intel remap. depending on what you want to do its really nice. lets you get your base skills down along with pvp/flying stuff at the same time.

If you are in for the long run, it might be a good idea to use your last remap for perception/willpower as this combination governs the Gunnery, the Missile and the Spaceship Command skills, something that will keep your skillqueue easily busy for a year at least.

So, my advise is to keep your attribute balanced for now learning all the basic skills across the board, then specialize: perhaps do all the Charisma skills and remap for that accordingly (and get them out of the way), afterwards the Intelligence/Memory skills, if you like Drones remap for Memory/Perception or whatever.... and finally Peception/Willpower for the year-long wait.

I'd recommend a generic mapping to start when you don't know what you will be training (read the whole thread, as opinions differ). Emphasis on intelligence and perception.

Generic (a bit of everything): 23i 21p 21m 17w 17c

Generic (combat focused, but previous mapping is better for drones): 24i 24p 17m 17w 17c

The latter mapping is also good for well established characters that already have a lot of skills trained (the more skill points you have, the less focused many people become).

Great thread and Positive comments, I am a new Character and went for Int/Perception map to get in a frig and be able to last in it by training up the support skills to get the most out of it until such times as I can decide what ship I would like to focus on.

I am going for PvP focus with a couple of Social Skills to support income and loyalty gain when not PvPing.

I did not map for Perception over Int as the missile nerfs are coming etc and I don't know what I wish to fly as yet outside of frigates so I don't see it beneficial at this juncture.

To my understanding getting most of what I refer to as base skills to lvl 4 is really only around 40 - 50 days depending on the implants you wish to use. I spent my first day training up 1st and some of the 2nd rank of lvl 1 skills and will then spend the next day on Cybernetics 4 for the +4 implants. My reasoning for this is that whatever the skills give me should provide an overall survival increase of possibly 100% more than if I went straight for cybernetics and could not survive mucking around in missions as I learn the game.

My advice is purely from a Newb standpoint but I see it as you have 3 remaps initially, I spent a little time reading and learning but not dwelling too much on direction as a friend of mine mentioned and I think was mentioned in here too that as the SP builds up and the skills take longer to train as you get older, you will loose a bit of focus as eve opens its different opportunities up to you and will require you to change up a few times along the way.(Especially those of us that have ADD/ADHD lol)

If this is your first toon, and you are not hellbent on being an FC take all the points out of charisma and re-distribute them to the other stats. If you look into becoming a booster/Fc/wing commander ect then bite the bullet and just get the 90 odd days of LD skills out of the way in one go.
