ECM is Killing Solo PvP

I don't think it's intended for you to be able to fit a single ship to be able to counter all the possible hazards you might encounter.

I guess Eve does allow you to play how ever you want. But I just don't understand why people put so much stock in "Solo PvP" in a "massively multiplayer" game.

Get some friends to even the odds, even if they just also fly ECM ships to get you out of fights you don't think are fair.

:) at least with the scimitar you can still fire your guns... perhaps alpha a frig or similar.
While being jammed and scrammed you can only sit and look as you die slowly

So why shouldn't people who bring friends, are prepared, and pick their targets well be able to kill you without loss?

The reason why solo PVP is so well regarded is because it's ridiculously hard to be successful at it, and that's because EVE doesn't do anything to help the soloist and because flying solo is a self imposed limitation that dramatically gimps your options and viable targets.

shhhhh. Only us Scorpion pilots are allowed to use F.O.F. missiles. :-)

(ECM boats are often the first target of enemy ECM boats).

I'd suggest the OP fly ECM for a year. OP will learn a lot about the methods to thwart ECM by being the ECM-er who gets thwarted.

Lol you caught me there, they also don't disable smartbombs or bombs or ECM bursts or target spectrum breakers if you want to get massively technical about one word I used.

The difference between ECM and the other E-war is that the others still provide the user with same ability to mitigate the attack. Damps and sebos, neuts and nos/cap boosters, warp disruption and stabs at 1/1 ratio, TD with TC, webs and prop mods, but with ECM and ECCM you still can get the full brunt of the ECM's effects based on chance. And during that jam cycle you are utterly crippled. The target can cloak/warp/keep fighting and has a large amount of time to make that decision.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

No worries, ecm will be there for a long time. But soon you'll get to enjoy gangs fielding TDs en masse rather then ecm birds. You'll keep your lock, but you'll hit nothing. It'll still be more enjoyable getting shots that go nowhere off then not getting to shot a single round, right?

solo is paper, rock, scissors, blob. Dont engage what you can't beat.

ECCM, Bring more than the ~2 to 3 ships a Falcon can keep consistently jammed (heck, just bring more than 1 ship of the same race, and they'll likely have a hard time keeping both jammed), bring friendly ECM and decloak second, and so on.

If you're flying solo, avoid them because it's unlikely that you'll be able to deal with them. Before you complain about them being OP because you can't deal with them solo, remember that they can't do much to you solo either.

In other words, when flying solo, pick your targets carefully.
