Well not all .2's are the same, some are real bad, some are not so good, some not so bad, some are dull. As to risking it for mining, I would say no. Your call on that, getting popped is a real possiblity down in low sec. Big smile And with your current skill set, you will be easy pickings for the pirites that make Low sec their home. But at the same time, your only risk at this point is your ship, since you will not lose skill points right now on being podded. I would wait until you can use a decently fitted cruiser before going down low.

I am going to disagree with you on that one. Frigates are faster and harder to pin down.

If he warps out in a frig he could be gone before the pirate can target him.

this all depends on what he wants to do in low sec. If he wants to go there to get the mineral he needs for this job it could be done in quick mining frig.

Well we will agree to disagree, having ventured to low on a few new avatars, if someone wnat to pop him he is toast anyways, at least if he waits till he can use a decent fitted cruiser, he will have learned some basic eve surivival skills. Of course, he is free to ignore both of us, and go do what he wants. As you well know there are many people in low sec who love to teach the new people how to die. Big smile

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

The risk far out weighs the gain. I couldn't replace that Destroyer for less than a cool mil. The material I need are only 10K ISK. The truth is in the numbers.

I wouldn't be at all comfortable in any of my ships. Hell, all the ships and fitting mods I have, are just what's been awarded in the tut so far.

I thank you guys for the input. I did figure out where the stuff is and how to use the star map. This game is amazing, so far...even if the text is too small. Shocked

The early Mining/Industrial tutorials are as much about learning to use the markets as they are about mining and manufacturing.

I have only an hr left in the mission. I understand, there should be plenty in my current area. I'm in Gallente space. I am not sure about travel to other systems, yet.

The list of belts in my current space, have none show up on the overview. I set the overview to include this, but I am having trouble finding any.

What is the sec status of the system? You need to be in .9 or lower, if all else fails try the market.

I've found this to be useful in the past:

Ore Grid

the ore grid is indeed useful for showing general trends in placement

but you can get specific system names from here.
