Question about black-ops BSs, covert ops T3 and cynoing

Lets start with saying that I know the risks.

Basically, I want to get a covert ops frigate to a system which I'm not friendly with the locals, but its pretty empty.
Using the frigate, when the system is empty, I want to use a covert-cyno and jump in a black-ops BS+T3 covert-ops+nullifier group to a safe location (nothing is really safe).

Than we can roam around, do anomalities, ratting and crap, and when we are done, use another covert ops frigate at another system (more friendly), open a covert-cyno, and jump everyone out with the BS before someone catchs us.

Because of the covert-ops ability, the BS and frigate can be relatively safe (cloacked at a safe spot so can't be scanned or logged off until ready to get out, but nothing is ever safe), and the T3s are stealth bustards. If they die, its their own damn fault.
The black-ops BS can act as a base of operations (of sorts).
If being taken notice too much, everyone will jump to the BS area stealthed, quick covert jump when ready, and we are gone.

We have a small base of operations in low-sec not far from an alliance space in the south (or was it east? I always get north and west confused...), and we want some exploration and fun in null without having to worry about null gate camps too much.
I know at some point we will get blobed and lose everything. But it will still be fun (as long as we don't die on the first try...).

So I need to know since I never tried it, and before we spend the ISK,skill time and start experimenting:
Do the covert-ops modules of the T3s allow them to be jumped with the black-ops BS?
Do covert-cyno also blink in the sky like a beacon like their normal cyno cosins, or its as it says, its fully un-detected (except being scanned by probes for the ship running it)?
Can I activate the covert cyno generator in high sec (which I think I can't not because the normal one also doesn't allow it, but I just want to confirm)?

(And I know Its an alt. Hell, would you post that on your main? :P)
Thanks in advance :)

Yes.

No, it doesn't blink, it's undetectable.

No. You can still jump your Black Ops from highsec into lowsec cyno though.

usehttp://evemaps.dotlan.net/ to plan your trip and how much you can send.

Also worth noting a black ops roughly will only be able to send 3 T3's
or 4 recons
or a short buss full of stealth bombers(like 30 ish)

if you jump and send stuff (full load) one of the things you send will have to be a cloakie t2 hauler or you will not have the fuel to return.

at max skills your jump range is only 5 light years(MAX SKILLS LIKE 45 DAYS TO GET TO MAX)

you can cov cyno in to a jammed system, and because of that fact.........

BE FOR WARNED almost all null sec entity's will view black ops drops as a PVP attack expect consitrable heat should any one who lives there scan your BLACK OPS bs.

Thanks.

Now I have more questions :p

How can I know how much I can send? I guess its based on total mass?
With the skills, we can have a 4 ly jump range, so a good setup to send is the jumping BS, a cloaky hauler and 2x T3 ships for example? That way I have enough isotopes to get all the jumps plus enough to jump everyone and some extra ammo or hauler to carry what I find?

Get a fuel truck like a Viator or a Crane. This is non-negotiable. You'll have SO MUCH MORE FUEL that way. Really.

Then, maybe, think about what you're going to do.

From what I understood, you want to PVE safely ? If so, where ? Lowsec or nullsec ?

Yeah after checking routes, I figured I will need a few jumps to get past gate camps and reduce the risks, which means bringing some cloaky hauler *****.

Plan is going into null, doing plex / ratting in cloaky ships to reduce the potential of being caught (coming fitted accordingly).
Maybe PvP if we feel daring (carebearing ftl).

use the link i put up you can set it to tell you the exact amount you can send.
also your better off scanning a WH and taking it till it has an out hole in null.

Hmmmm...could I hijack this thread just a little bit.
I dont know much about Black Ops ships.
I want to be able to move small items like implants and blueprints form Empire to 0.0 space.
Would a black ops ship be usefull/practical for that?

Yes, but you can only jump out of hisec, not into it. That means you would have to take a route like this: Hisec --> Null (assuming you can even reach where you want to go in one jump) --> Lowsec --> Hisec (via gate).

That's quite a load of ISK on the line, and the cargo capacity is limited, so unless there is a SEVERE shortage of something (that the alliances who seed null markets haven't taken care of), and assuming you can get into the station in question to dock/check market, then you're still putting a billion isk ship on the line for a task you could complete with a T1 industrial, covops frigate, and a little patience.

Thanks.
Now I understand the need for a stealth hauler :)
It doesn't allow me to select a T3 ship, so I'm using a pilgrim instead to calculate.

So I guess its setting up people's skill training and than we are ready :)

Problem is you need to always change system.
If you always do it in the same system, someone will pick you up at some point, and than you are screwed.
Also a black-ops flying through high-sec also invite a gank if not fit properly.

Anyone on the same grid as the covert cyno generator can see the covert cyno on overview, unlike a regular cyno where everybody in the system can see it.

To reduce the fuel problem, you should base yourself out of lowsec initially. Try Aridia or Devoid, no one lives there. Cart in and/or mine enough ice locally (if you have a Redeemer ofc; otherwise try Solitude trololol) and anchor a can at a deepsafe in a system, off scan. Fill can with isotopes.

Fly your cyno covops out to a relatively unused destination in nullsec, set an off-grid deepsafe. Light cyno. Jump a cloaky hauler to your desto in nullsec, with a can. Anchor can. Fill can with isotopes. Bridge in your T3's, jump BLOPs into system, send the hauler alt home, begin the ISKening.

ProTip: Always keep your blops cloaked!
ProTip: Cloaky Tengu is best for the T3's, for ratting. If you RR fit it, you should be able to tackle 8/10's with 3 or 4 of them, no wuckers. Fat ISK.
ProTip: Practise, practise, practise the bridging before the real deal.

Thanks a lot for the tips.

Question about anchoring: Won't that can be the target for a someone who wants to catch me?
Scan the can, bookmark it, and than fly to when you see someone on grip you don't like.

You cannot probe a can.

While it is true that you cannot probe a can you might want to think about where you put it.

E.g. if you make some mid-safe type bookmarks and put a can there it is possible to get on grid with the can using the same procedure, mid warp bookmarks, fast ship, and dscan. It's time consuming and requires some practice but I've done it when I've been bored. It is also possible to look inside the can with a cargo scanner.

The cans that I have found pretty much impossible to get to are where I think the person has scanned down some wormhole or other exploration site that is near one of the outmost planets and the site is on the oposite side of the planet to the centre of the solar system. This could be up to 4AU away from the planet and will not be in a position where you can use bookmarks made in warp between celestials to get closer to it.

LOLOL who can use d-scan out in nullsec? The people you get with BLOPs are the people who simply look at Local as a guide to docking up/safeing up.

I too have been bored.

Usually its when I'm out wandering, and suddenly see a container flicker on Overview midwarp. I almost find myself compelled to try and track it down, if only to drop another that says "Haha I found you!"

I may be a little late on this post but perhaps this helps. http://www.ninveah.com/2009/09/eve-master-class-jump-portals.html Keep in mind fuel used is also based on mass of ship porting so perhaps something with plates could be in order and fuel conservation is a MUST. As was mentioned take a fuel truck, I personally am not fond of bridging T3's w/o one as they simply take a lot of fuel relatively speaking not to mention the actual jump for the BOPs can be, shall I say, thirsty. Aside from that the above link should help answer quite a few questions.
