Welcome back T'amber Kiwiland is missing you.

When subscription numbers are rising - they are trumpeted as evidence that the company is awesome.
When subscription numbers are falling - they are suddenly deemed to be commercially sensitive.

This occurs in any company in any industry.

I agree,

as for numbers I want, subs itself is more of a RL business issue.

It is correlated with a few game economic issues and I'd much preffer things to be presented in realm and thats what I want to think about,, the EVE in game economy.

What I'd really like is a few index numbers released quarterly.

We were given these numbers once and I found them incredibly useful in understanding the economy.. which was a lot of fun.

When there is less to think about ,, its less fun to play.

- bounties collected.
- insurance payouts.
- # ships destroyed
- not yet disclosed but presumabley parsable via api by people like dotlan if they collected and aggregated 24 hour data... but number of ships detroyed in player to player km generating things
- market trade volume for the quater (presumably players have that info too already.. but it would be nice to have in a 10 line report

- I'd also like to have a top twenty ships created (not flow at time of a flash reading) by number similar to the past tables.

My subs are already cancelled. I'm just expecting more than lip service before I decide if it's worth re-upping or time to move on to a game that doesn't sit behind Minecraft 90% of the time.

I've done everything. NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!

Hello Im Blue,

To be honest, I don't know what are the plans regarding that data, but I'll ask around.

T'amber: Welcome back! That pic is just Shocked, really looking forward to the tournament if you decide to hold it.

I doubt it will look like that in the end, its just a quick draft and means pretty much nothing. :P

TBH Its a little boring without Eve and nonlinear tournaments are fun if people actually take part. Considering my pvp record is smart bombing 16 out of the 40 people in Rens who said one of my events was boring and a couple of kamokazi jitaganks I should probably find a professional this time around.

Also to note, I was watching the subs last year around October and there was a similar decline (although of a lesser scale) which I'm sure everyone has taken into consideration.

Speak for yourself. I left nulsec so I could stop being just another sheep in the alliance leaders' flocks isk factory. Now I eat sheep on a regular basis.

While SWTOR isn't an eve competitor, it is a sci-fi draw and could easily siphon off would to be players. It's release is in December, so the Oct decline may not pick up for awhile.

I also "feel" like CCP has been banning more bots lately, so that also has a dent in subs.

I've pointed this out dozens of times, but it never gets responded to lol. What we are all seeing is the active people online, and the mass banning of bots has a very large impact on the number of people that are online 23/7.

But of course, EVE has been dying, is dying, and will continue to be dying for years to come.

I has all the eve inactivity

No bot is on-line 23/7 anymore. Those were a trivial target for CCP Sreegs, Their death was reported to the CSM in May and in some Las Vegas meeting. But I guess the bot owners just get a second account and run each for 12 hours.

That's still longer than the average eve player, so banning bots does reduce concurrent user count more than subscriptions. Especially as CCP Sreggs has said that after the first 2 week ban, over 90% of the offenders stop using bots. One bot gone, concurrent users goes down, no drop in subscriptions.

Also Ive been tracking the data closely. The concurrent user count has been level for about 2 weeks.

Edit: I wonder if the new crashlogging tools built in to the client also allow for bot finding. CCP Sreegs has said his concern is the security of the client, so maybe those tools allow for seeing if the client is being messed with in a EULA violating manner. If they are: Banhammer.

Predicting we will see sub numbers when (and if) they reach the previous peak, and not before.
