Hello Ship fitting Gurus,

I am considering doing a bit of mining to on this account to keep myself flush in T1 ships for pvp. Believe it or night I prefer mining to missioning.

I will be mining in 0.5 space with Orca support. I was hoping that someone would share a hulk fit that had a decent tank and decent yield.

Thank you in advance,

Starfall

Nope.

Tried that and looked on BC, didn't find much. I just figured this would be the place to look after Google.

it's not hard...... takes very little energy to research the sufficient amounts of information on hulk fits. there's yield/yield, there's anti-gank/yield there's anti-gank/anti-gank

Maybe these would be more helpful?

This looks a lot like Halada's old Null Sec Hulk setup.

HIgs: Strip miners
Mids: Shield extenders and hardeners.
Lows: A damage control and mining laser upgrade.
Rigs: Field extenders or the ones for ice mining if you mine ice.
Drones to taste.

Keep in mind that when they try to google it, they get mostly pre-inferno builds, and the same for ship fit sites (most of the + or likes are from pre changes). You also would have spent less time giving them a fit or a link than it would have taken you to enter two different posts just trying to be antagonistic.

To the OP, I currently use the following build (going by memory, i may only have 2 invulns). But keep in mind I have max shield leadership bonus on my orca alt for it, and the tank is still rather low, so keep your eye on local / dscan. If you want a bit more tank, drop one MLU and put in an internal force field array.

Keep in mind also, that a Retriever / Mack is only about 15% or so less yield, a little bit more tank, and a bit less maintenance (you have a cargo can sized ore bay so have more time between changes if you dont want to do it every 3-6 min).

Hope this helps,

Hello

You may consider mining in a Covetor in high sec.
I've found high sec asteroids usually aenemic. Most of them will not contain enough units for a full cycle of the miners.
A survey scanner might come in handy so you know you can savely stop the mining cycle after a certain time.

If You decide for a Hulk, its usual miners in high, tank in mids, yield (MLU) in low, fitting/extras in rigs.

Mids: "Traditionally" for a (sovereignity) null sec Hulk (and Exhumers were originally planned for null sec) a shield tank utilizes a small shied booster (faction or deadspace for better effect) and hardeners specifically for the rat of that area.

But You are tanking against gankers, not null rats, so you need buffer and omni resists. You may consider something like this:

MLU II
MLU II

Survey Scanner II
Small F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Small F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II

Modulated Strip Miner II (Scordite Mining Crystal II)
Modulated Strip Miner II (Scordite Mining Crystal II)
Modulated Strip Miner II (Scordite Mining Crystal II)

Medium Anti EM-Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Processor Overclocking Unit I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

With an PG implant you could exchange te survey scanner for a small ASB, which gives you 88 HP/s for 20 s.

With Exhumer IV all resists are around 70 and it has an EHP of 13,4k - i estimae that will be just enough to survive two destroyers. - so it will NOT save you from a dedicated gank, just a casual one.

Fitting a DC instead of a MLU will certainly benefit your tank, but the yield will not be much more than that of a Covetor (the Hulk can fit a second MLU, the Covetor cannot, otherwise its just the exhumer skill level that gives the Hulk an advantage), so You spend 200 or more millions for an exhumer level x 3% gain.

PS: Since you have the Orca nearby (for storing the ore) You might install a shield transfer array (or more?) on it. This is just an ad hoc idea, and i never saw it done, so it might actually a terrible idea for some reason - or not.

If you are pretty sure that you'll take incoming gank-fire, perhaps swap one of the mids for an ASB.

in terms of defense, for the hulk, very little has changed regarding fits. for yield/cargo the changes are evident.

Starfall is using Orca support, so... that means additional EP from siege warfare boosts and means it's not solo. While assuming it's intentions are to be defended from a gank to some degree.....

so, if starfall is wise, it'll go with yield/anti gank. for almost 23 to 24k EHP, all the while with one MLU II and a survey scanner. 23-24k EHP won't stop a well planned gank, but it'll give em a run for their money. I won't tell you how to do it because i found the answer within 5 seconds of work. The good fits always have a DCU II on it. it doesn't do anyone any justice to be lazy.
