I fell in love with the concept of cheaply thrown together spaceships. The Tempest? That piece of **** looks like some Matar engineers in a hurry, had to cut off a piece of an equally ugly station and stick some guns on it because there was no time for design. And it's perfect. The Stabber seems like the entire core was centered off a structure pillar and I'm fine with that.

Why is everyone obsessed with making Minmatars look more futuristic akin to the Amarr or Gallente? The Minmatar is supposed to be the least advanced. The look rugged scrap look goes well with it.

The Maelstrom is the most ugliest ship I've ever seen for the Minmatar.Evil

Sorry man but the rustbucket least advanced argument doesn't really work anymore. Its been generations since the Minmatar rebellion, a time when ships were crudely made and primitive due to resource shortages and lack of skilled personel, that time has long since passed, and the Sebiestor are supposed to be some of the greatest engineers in the cluster, isn't it about time Minmatar ships began to reflect that?

Also roleplay reasons aside, all those antennae sticking off the old hulls alias like crazy, I'm glad CCP has abandoned those in the modernized designs, overall the new textures are much smoother looking, well done CCP.

I agree it only makes sense, the minmatar no longer have their backs against the wall and it's about time they start producing solid ships after all these years. Least advanced? by what measure? They have designed and built their own T3 ship class let alone titan and super carrier class.

Reminds me of the nice shiney WW II P-52 Mustang.

"But they are not camoflauged" said the RAF pilot , "you'll be seen for miles".

"Cool" said the USAF pilot, "hate for them to miss us".

"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad..."

I strongly agree with this! There was a certain romanticism about the origins of the Minmatar and they fact that their ship building tech was a result of make-do can-do philosophy.

I like the new Minmatar models, save for the Reaper.
I hope they continue down the path they are now.

Agreed, but the renders of the new destroyer have me scratching my head.

I happen to really like the newer Minmatar ship designs. The upcoming Tempest and Stabber/Vagabond are nicely updated while still maintaining a strong tie to the originals.

I wish I could say the same for the Reaper re-design and the atrocious new destroyer.

OP and sympathisers - balls to your proposals.

Minmatar ships can keep the same aesthetic without low poly, poorly aliasing models. Personally I think the redesigns are a great improvement.

Your post confirms that. Lol just kidding... anyway. Minmatar shooting amarr. Amarr are constantly advancing. So minmatar just building (ehm....gluing) their ships from more advanced amarr scraps and wrecks.

Thread cleared of some random off topic stuff, try and keep on topic in peoples threads in future.

On topic, I love the redesigned Minmatar hulls. The Tempest no longer looks like a head on collision between two scrap metal delivery trucks and the little Vagabond got it's frilly bit back and then some. And after all these years, after all that the Minmatar people have been through and achieved, it should not be any surprise they are going back over their hulls and revamping them.
