Setting this up too hard

Dearest CCP

You had made such good strides with the coming of the SiSi Launcher and made it so that us non-technical folks would be able to set up the test server nice and easy.

Now there is Duality, Buckingham, SiSi.....

What is a poor luddite such as myself to do? I would love to go and see some of the new features and test...but I am quite intimidated by the instructions on the Evelopedia about how to set up the duality thing.

If I might suggest you should have set up the launcher tool so that this would be all one nice easy step - you do want us to test?

So that is my suggestion

if copy directory, edit one file, run is too much for you, then perhaps the testing would be too.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Are the instructions in my devblog too complicated? If so I apologise, and yes it is our ultimate goal to make this available within one launcher.

With the extra steps and the sheer number of 'it doesn't work' threads, it's simply not even worth it to try. Sisilauncher was made because ccp at that time knew that making life easier for the players makes life better for the devs. Looks like players are starting to be seen as consumables again.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

Make new folder, i named mine Duality on my desktop.
Copy your TQ folder to 'Duality'
Create a shortcut for eve.exe
Edit shortcut add /server:Duality
Run shortcut

Again, if that's too much for you, then I'm really not sure what else they can do for you, or how much benefit you'd be to them in harder concepts like ship balancing.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

There's even a video guide on how to set this up:

It's meant for Singularity but it's the same for the others, just with different shortcuts.

@ CCP Goliath

Thanks for the reply - i look forward to having it all done by the launcher as I did occasionally go on SiSi to check new stuff out and where possible tried to provide feedback.

Cheers

YES!

It's like CCP is reading my mind and claiming all the good ideas for themselves. I have no problem with this.

To be fair, the instructions could be a little more clear.

Create a shortcut for the new eve.exe file inside C:\evetest

Step 3 doesn't explain how to make the shortcut. This could be a problem for someone who doesn't know how.

Add /server:87.237.38.69 and press OK (Make sure to add a space before the slash (or forward slash))

The final look of the Target line would look something like this:
"C:\evetest\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.69

On step 5 it doesn't specify where to put the /server:87.237.38.69. Again another problem for someone who isn't familiar with editing shortcuts. It isn't until the part where it mentions the target line is that someone might get it.

One with a brain would infer that this means put it at the end of the "Target Line"

EDIT: I think I got trolled.
