new ship: juggernaut class capital ship

alas there isnt any code that allows specific target damage increases. They've always done it arbitarly though sig rads/res and tracking.

yes it looks that way... perhaps if the changed the chance to hit formula a little so that in the tacking part an additional multiplier could a "ship signature"...

so something like
if ship signature = fighter/fighter bomber
then tracking increase by "x"

x = the desired multiple to make it so there is max damage being done to fighters and fighter bombers...

I dont think throwing in a 'multiplier' is going to work out so well I mean its bad enough there are CFs and inverse trig fucntions in the darn formula that has been reversed engineered and even that isnt accurate enough from a statistical view point.

I mean its possible to do it to the end result of the hit but damn thing is a couple lines wrong something for potentially very bad things can happen can happen.

ok then... this is also radical...

change the damage done forumula

so chance to hit would still be the same but...

there would be two ways x is calculated...

if ship = fighter or fighter bomber then x is generated between 0 to 0.5 (note this number subject to change)

if ship does not = fighter or fighter bomber then x is generated between 0. to 1

ChanceToHit, essentially, specifies an interval in which values of X can fall that qualify or disqualify a hit. The larger this interval, the larger the values X can take, and hence the larger the hit multiplier (i.e. X + 0.5) can be.

For example: A shot with ChanceToHit = 0.97 X = 0.980, the shot misses. X = 0.541, the shot hits, with a damage multiplier= 1.041. X = 0.001, the shot hits, 'wrecking' with damage multiplier = 3.

what this will do is if your chance to hit is greater then 0.5 then you will always hit the fighter and there is a greater chance for the hit to be wreaking...

Personally i think 2-3 new super BSs per team would be nice... all could be stuck to low/nul sec like caps.

One type could be high agility/resist/heavy damage at long range BSs
One type could be a combination of fighter deployment/drone ship/RR
One type could be jump capable, has its own mini siege mod, and would boost DPS by up to 3-4 times.

Have a skill plan similar to BSs, but with the normal prereq of that racial BS @ 4, as a normal BS is now for smaller ships.

To be built at an X-large assembly array or in a station/outpost

You must really like the name "juggernaut", because you post a new idea for a "juggernaut" class every month. You must also really dislike battleships, because every time you propose it, it obsoletes battleships.

just have a module called "flack" and it only hurts drones withing X range. this would be ballanced because flack will hit friendly repair drones/ fighters orbiting your ship, so cooridination could be needed... like launch fighters/drones,send to attack, when they are away turn flack on

also you could only put flack on specialized ships.

yes i do like the names... and no they dont make bs's useless... well as much as a bc makes a cruiser useless...

a bs has a sig radius of about 400m a juggernaut has one about 1000m....

ccp is already balancing the existing ships...

this is a new ship to fill a niche role that currently exists but is not being used...

hentes did you even read the thread before posting? look at the "inteceptor/fighters" the ship uses... they do less dps then 5 heavy drones but are good at killing regular fighters and fighter bombers...

Erm... you are aware that tier 2 BCs do obsolete all cruisers that aren't the Blackbird? That was a really, really bad example. Lol
