Just follow the mantra KISS.

If your bookmarks are overly complicated, youre probably doing it wrong. Info that is relevant needs to be shared in intel/comms channels.

Use a chain mapper to be able to figure out the chain (and a good chain mapper will allow you to just simply color code systems such as active/occupied but inactive/empty/etc).

And for the bookmarks themselves,

Home -> C5s
C5s -> Home
C5s -> C5a
c5a -> c5s
c5a -> ns
c5a -> c5b
c5a -> c3a
etc etc

The more complicated you make things, the more room for error when youre dealing with lots of people scanning and making bookmarks and trying to figure out what the hell is going on (plus things like time the bookmark is created, or system j-tag, are already embedded in the bookmark folder).

So it turns out that apparently what I consider reasonable sophistication is seen as too complicated by most people, not only in my corp *g*

My own convention for WH-BM's always was
WH Home>C3#1 1238 [EoL] AFH
where the #1 is a unique number assigned to every scanned system, 1238 is the time it was scanned/opened, EoL indicates End of Life if applicable, AFH is the identifier. All this information is short enough to be visible in full in the right-click menu.
The > (or <) indicates the direction of the wormhole, in this case it leads from Home to C3, so its K162 is on the C3 side.

We need to trade BM's between more than one corp, so time is essential. When BM's are copied from a can, they have the timestamp from when they were copied.

Am I understanding this right that someone has to create an account/access for me first before I can register for Siggy? My mail to Messoroz wasn't answered yet...

Yea honestly that bookmark hurts my head. Honestly it has data in it that is quite frankly, useless. So you are making them overly complicated but not adding lots of value. I have found, not only in EVE but generally in life, when you ask others to do things, if they don't see the value, it is harder to get them to follow it.

Also, as I mentioned before, we keep all of the details in wormhole space, which is kind of like siggy. It probably isn't as fancy as siggy. But it is also free, quick to register for, and can be downloaded to run on your own webserver if you want.

Ok no real revelations so far, people do it similar to us, though most methods are a little too crude for my taste ;)

Now I want this Siggy thing, it seems to be perfect for my needs. Hopefully they don't charge an arm and a leg, because I guess at least initially I'll have to pay for it all by myself... Roll

Siggy is great and all, but if you can't get pilots to follow your naming system you're still going to have issues navigating the wormhole chain in game.

Start cracking skulls; if you want to live in wormhole space, you have to get with the freaking program.

Wormhole Space is terribly slow today, sometimes it takes half a minute to load. Is this normal? Would be a show-stopper for me...

It's not normal.

Wait, you have an overly complex system for creating bookmarks and you're unaware as to what is or is not normal wormhole behaviour?

Here is a pic of a chain we had a few weeks back, you can clearly see how our naming system works, for our chain from static we use Corp wh's folder and for everything we scan from connecting wh's to our home system we use Offshoot bm folder which keeps all the bm's seperated so its easy to collapse and move all to to Old bm folder.

We use siggy which has a mapping tool, sig list with allows you to add info on each sig, store pos locations, use sig strength calculator and many more cool features

Edit: forgot to mention we always name return wormholes just "Wormhole" to keep it simple and fast

The only thing missing from that chain is a loop.

I've had it be a little slow sometimes. Not that slow however. Keep in mind it is open source and can be downloaded and installed on your own host of choice if you are so inclined.

Can you provide access to Siggy? Messoroz (who was named as contact in this thread) seems to be on vacation or inactive and your corp diplomat doesn't talk to me. I would be interested to test Siggy and rent access.

I'd be happy if you respond here or contact this character or Sharon Aggathon or Jadawin Khanidi.

We use WH-Space for now but is has terrible bugs. Someone just destroyed our whole account simply by typing a " into a text field Roll If we find nothing better we will host it on our own server where we can fix some of those bugs, but I'd like to rather just use a better tool if it's affordable...

Ill keep an eye out for him, you should just get everyone in your corp to send him a mail im sure he will notice that (out of interest who is our corp diplo?).
Anything is affordable in wh space if you can be bothered to make isk.

I think the role was actually recruitment officer, not diplomat... at any rate it was the only part in your corp description I could understand Blink Nevermind though, I was able to talk to him in the meantime.

Seems that Messoroz is really the only person who has control over Siggy. Which is good I guess in terms of security of Siggy's users. Not so good when he isn't around for weeks...

We use Siggy to map the chain/note signatures, but keep our bookmarks pretty simple.

Wormholes are organised like this: C4a -> C3b. We simply place an "e" at the end if the wormhole leads towards home, an "s" if it is the static wormhole, or an "i" if it is an inbound. Add "EOL" if it's end of life, with the time noticed. This obviously requires using siggy to note what name you're giving the wormhole.
For example;
C4a -> C2a e
C5d -> High i
C2a -> C1b s EOL 12:28

Sites are named by wormhole and by sig ID - C4a RAQ L Barren Perimeter Reservoir.

Towers are similar. C4a POS 4-5 120km

We're a smaller corp, so this works well for us. However it only works when your corpmates remember to do it Evil
