Are interdictors viable for solo PVP?

I'm curious about interdictors...

Can you use interdiction bubbles at safes in low sec, say between two gates to pull random surprises out of warp?

If so, how come I've not encountered this tactic yet?

Are interdictors viable solo against t1 frigs? How about t2?

Cheers :-)

Also, bubble drag the endpoint of warp tunnel, need to have them on grid with the destination but you can't "intercept" during warp.
I know the caldari dictor is called a flycatcher, but it doesn't work like that.

On top of the "bubbles don't work in low sec", some of the Dictors can solo quite well and the most obvious one is the Sabre (that's also why it's so expensive) because of its damage type selection, speed, applied dps, tank etc. So in 0.0 you'll see many "solo" gate camps with a single Sabre and just a scout on the other side of the gate and if done right they can get a whole bunch of kills.

They'll kill frigs just fine, both T1 as T2, assuming the Sabre pilot is anywhere decent. It's just very niche (and also boring imo) but it does happen.

While correct you can also position the bubble just in front of the gate and "catch" them there, I know you know but just adding this for clarity.

While the guys posting are correct I am going to say YES you can.

Targets in highsec or low sec will fit Warp Stabs to their ships to avoid Wars or Low sec gangs. The HIC's focused warp disruptor (Infinite Point) will stop anybody in their tracks in highsec or low sec if they have warp stabs fitted.

The Phobos to me is the best ship for solo run. It has a good tank with good DPS and I use it alot when my war targets start flying around in warp stabbed ships.

The small dictors I do not know however. Have not had the chance to use them.

A shield tanked broadsword sebo'd is a pirate gangs best friend in low sec.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Note the OP asked about interdictors, not about HICs.

Thanks for all the replies. The opinion I'm taking away is that while they are viable in solo PVP, it's pretty niche and they work much better as part of a gang and I could specialise in something better for solo work. I'm also assuming HIC stands for Heavy Interdictor Cruiser.

Thanks again :-)

There are quite a few guys in eve online who rack up tons of kills using a sabre for solo pvp. Unlike most of the other interdictors it does a fair bit of dps while allowing you to bubble and scramble the target. Obviously they are used only in null sec as mentioned previously so that you can use the warp disrupt probes. T1 and T2 frigs, haulers, mining ships, alot of t1 cruisers are easily killed by a well fit sabre.

With the addition of the ancilary shield booster solo sabres are a little more vulnerable than they were before. Some of the t2 assault frigs are now a whole lot tougher than they used to be.

As mentioned you cannot just drop a bubble between gates randomly and pull people out of warp. You must be on grid with where the guy is going to land (and be in line) in order to drop a stop bubble. You will also need to bubble before the would be target has warped. You can, however, bubble when they come thru your gate and then (if they do not cause you agressoin by trying to warp) follow them back to the other side if they crash gate and catch them there. This was not always the case. CCP had made changes to dictors a few months ago and for a short period of time ( a few months) merely deploying the bubble caused the dictor agression. This is no longer so.

Some of the best solo pvpers using sabres often dual box with a cloaky hauler who watches the other side of the gate and sees what kind of target is coming thru. They they collect the loot with the hauler and return to scouting duty. When i was in Mostly Harmless there was a PL dude who sat camping the p2 gate in pure blind for months doing this and only this and racking up 500 or more solo kills every month. If you can find a highly trafficked spot like that you can definitely get some kills.
