About half of the people in my channels seem to spend all their ISK on this stupid game of luck and talk about nothing else anymore. It's like an epidemic. What's so great about playing lottery, and what's there to talk about when it's just about blind luck? I can't hear the phrase 'promo blink' anymore Evil

I HATE Somer Blink. Like this post if you hate it too! Cool

edit: Oh noes, I'm so blinded by rage that I posted this into the wrong forum. Should have gone into GD Ugh

I rarely if ever play with ingame ISK when you can buy GTC via there referrer link and get 150+m blink credit.

There is something a bit addictive about seeing that pulsing blue glow when you win something :D

It seems to be motivating for those who win. Unfortunately I am not one of those and quit after losing 300 million or so...

I guess you could say that Somer Blink is a wormhole in it's own sense.

FACT: Somer Blink has generated more USD worth of ISK than CCP's net worth. OK, maybe not that much. Imagine the damage Somer can cause should all that ISK be injected into the economy.... CCP and Somer must maintain some arrangement. Perhaps as a means of controlling the amount of ISK in the economy.

Like all lotteries, it's a tax on people who either don't understand math or simply don't care that the math is not in their favor.

Many people can't resist the RNG. Just go to Vegas and look at all the lost souls sitting there in front of a machine pulling the lever over and over again in the hopes of hitting a jackpot. They're like mice in a science experiment, repeating the same behavior over and over looking for the thrill. Hopefully they realize those casinos are built on their foolishness, but yet they continue to play.

my boss did a benefit auction at a casino last weekend, had $20 in his pocket and decided to play the slots. Won 200 grand in less than 5 minutes of playing. But yeah I know odds are never in your favor, so I don't gamble much or play blink anymore. People who keep throwing isk down the drain (or RL money) are dumb.

Entertainment is worth a lot of money, and to some gambling is good entertainment...

But when someone seriously thinks he might get rich and takes real risks for it... Nope.

Whilst I agree, I still do play real life lotteries on the miniscule chance I might actually win a reasonable amount of money. I guess at the end of the day it provides hope for people that life won't be the grind it is for most. But that's a hell of a lot of difference between that and the in-game lottery where all you're going to do is buy more ships to lose.

In gambling some people are more "lucky" than others, but luck can only last so long.
As your amount of gambling reaches toward infinity, your wallet moves closer toward zero.

I have little trust in any gambling activity, the fact is the house always wins(incase of Somer Blink, there is a great plausibility of shill characters in that system). You may win a few prizes here and there, but most of the time you're better off buying the items with the money you spent on gambling.

At first, I put in little bits of money. For about a week or so, I would play a little each day, usually managing to break even or even come out ahead a little. Then I started letting the winnings go back into the Blink system, still managing to break even. I even won a promo Mach.

After that point, it seemed like I never won again. I only played "regular" Blink enough to use up my promo credits, and then stopped playing; you can get a lot of extra promo credits from the "achievements" they offer. I ended up about 1.3b richer than when I started.

I actually thought my early successes were rigged to try to encourage me to dump larger amounts of money into the system. The promo credits are certainly a hook to keep you dumping money in.

It's really a brilliant idea, and my only disappointment with the whole thing is that I didn't think of it first :)

That's why I play Hold'em. Pretty much the only casino game where you don't play against the house.
