So when you read my post and see "unhealthy escapism", I in turn read yours and see a dreary dreamless perspective that in large part serves to smother the world that I live in. A bunch of "it's good enough" sloths unwilling to reach out just a little farther in order to touch the proverbial finger of god with their entire hand, instead of merely the lazy tip of their index finger (Michelangelo Painting Reference) Yep, that's you.

I express concern, and you insult me?

Welcome to the world of Eternum Praetorian. He can at least form a sentence, but anything beyond 2+2 = 4 and his brain just short circuits since logic is not his strong point, nor will it ever be. He debates typically using insults, and that's about the entirety of his posts.

You can even post something in passing like you did and, as you see, you get an insult. I'd bet he's still butthurt over all the arguments and debates he's lost on these forums while still flailing like a child trying to prove his side is always right. His trolling methods are even worse than what the goons would use, since at least they can be funny, while he just sits there and, again, throws random insults at people because he isn't any more clever than that.

Good riddance.

don't abandon your hopes. EVE Online is a forever changing universe and I know that there are intentions to add much more content to the game than what exists now.

DUST 514 is an extention of EVE Online into the console gaming world and will allow you to see planets the way you cannot within EVE Online today.
On the other hand, in the future of EVE Online there are likely to be additional starbase types and I think without any doubt that we will be able to do much more.

CCP listens to the voices of their player community and we may yet see these ideas set in motion and brought into the game.

in the mean time, try to do something a bit different Blink

Yah... I've been playing the DUST beta and I think it's going to have a lot bigger impact on EvE than I initially suspected. Interesting times lie ahead... you might check it out. The possible implications of what is happening with DUST on EvE are quite frankly staggering, imho...

I am pretty much in the same boat of just logging on to check skills and maybe patrol the belts or check other things in my home system for awhile. And to help the rare corp mate that might be on doing something productive.

But for the most part I just keep my skill training rolling, more out of habit than any goal as I fly everything I am interested in flying. And even though I would love to have new content and to have new personal goals to work towards like I did in my "younger" days.

I believe the true value of eve is the social aspect of it, and as my corp has become less active, I have become less active. Yet I still have ties that bind me to my corp. I suppose I could leave and find a more active outfit to join. But how many hits and misses would it take to find a new home and would it ever be like it used to be. Hard to say. So I only have myself to blame on that front, for not wanting to take the risk and burden of moving on.

So I agree that new content would be nice and it would keep things fresh and lively, and perhaps provide as distraction when there isn't any "player" made content to take advantage of. It still isn't required of Eve to be enjoyed by many, as it is the social aspect of Eve that I believe is it's heart and soul. As for content that I believed that best promoted a blend of both that I have personally experienced would be Apocrypha. But that's just my opinion.

Any way take care EP it was interesting flying with thee back in the day.

Hmmm... You're pretty angry. Was it just my forum PVP that violated you or did I also do so in game to one of your alts? This is your second angry and off topic post in this thread, so inquiring minds want to know!

You're just obnoxious. And it's not off topic. You're leaving. As others have agreed with this sentiment in this thread I say again, good riddance.

If Bioware, or any other computer gaming company is interested I am sure we could put together a game that would wipe this one out, overnight, easily and quickly.

Uh, no. Bioware has gone the way of other games that sold out to EA and turn into crapola studios. Their last few releases (SWTOR, DA:O 2 and ME2/3) - all junk. Bioware seems to think a good MMO is taking WOW, making it even more single player, making it even more ez-mode, adding voice, and plunking it into space. Hell, did you see what they did to space combat in SWTOR? How that ever got approved and released in a Star Wars game simply is beyond me. I would never hire the producer of that game. Ever. Ever.

CCP is the last company that caters to a more challenging, sandbox, ruthless world.

However, I do love the ideas in this thread. Would be a huge fan of a game like you guys are talking about and would most definitely play. Unfortunately I don't think any major developer is going to take on any sci-fi MMO these days because they've seen how poorly the Star Trek MMO and SWTOR turned out. They don't have the common sense to realize those games failed because of how WoW-ish they are, rather than attempting to go the sandbox route.

The more sandboxy a game is, the more win it is, IMHO.

Too bad CCP is spending all its time right now nerfing HMLs and not focusing on things that will actually improve the game (although the changes to the outposts/stations could be nice).

Yes. You made me angry. Well done - I'm guessing this eludes to your social inadequacy, that you feel this is something to be proud of.

If you presume that when I say that "I prefer access to the images that the Hubble create" for example, that I also mean that I can experience a mountain by looking at a computer screen, then you have your head shoved so far up your own "fantastic-new-Zealand-outdoorsman" ass that you can no longer see anything but "how fantastic you think that you are". The two things are not related.

The things being related is not the point. If you feel you are able to experience seeing these things just as easily by googling up images, rather than making friend with astronomers, or even pursuing the hobbie of astronomy to a greater degree than looking at the moon, then I urge you to try again.

I did underestimate you. You are describing the ultimate act of "i hate my old life" escapism that I have ever heard.

You're also wrong here.

The tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, esp. by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.

I dealt with my unpleasant realities. That is about as real as it gets - whether you believe it or not is not actually relevant to this discussion. Since you don't understand what escapism means, I'll forgive your earlier rudeness, and again, assert my belief that a desire to see a game with that much detail in it smacks of an unhealthy level of desire for escapism, to which I would suggest putting down the mouse and stepping outdoors for a bit.

TL:DR. Get a life.

Eve is about the journey.  If you are so focused on making money, that you insist on having the tools to make it be made as autonomous and easy as possible, then you are never going to have as much fun as I will.

You are presuming to know me and you are judging me by your own small minded and angry predetermined ideals. That makes you a fool. Here is a little bit of my internet bio for you to mull over. The first book that I owned was the the cosmos by Carl Sagan. Yes, I felt like those pictures and those words written by one of the greatest minds of the time got me closer to space then my telescope. My interest in such things came from my grandfather who worked for lockheed martin. He was an electronic engineer who helped design parts for the space shuttle's guidance system. That carrier path was what started my own interest in spaceflight and aerospace.

I can keep going but I don't feel like writing a wall of text. The point is that you have absolutely no idea what my background is nor do you have any clue under what context my post was written under. You simply presume that a nobody adolescent is sitting behind his keyboard and googling "space exploration" and in doing so believing myself to be the philosopher.

When you jump to conclusions and presume that your way is the only way, you end up looking like the fool. That is an important life lesson right there Mr. new Zealand escapist. And no you don't have to thank me, I smack down the self-righteous everyday for free as apparently Selinate and his alts can attest. Blink

There have been amazing rebalances to ships over the last 8 months, with many more promised in the next 8 months. So I think you're missing out on that aspect of the game...

From a visual perspective, V3 remodeling of ships are happening.... Within the last year or so they changed the nebulas of every region in space, really improving the visual look of space itself... (all space is NOT the same anymore).

I just don't get what you're really after? Space dolphins to swim by your mining barge? Random encounters? SimPlanets? Space monuments?

I don't presume to know you. I never made any claim to such. I'm reacting to the way you have treated me, when I made a valid assertion, on my feelings regarding the desire for such detail in a game.

Your obnoxious responses continue to colour my opnion of you. Despite my clarification, you continue to misuse the word 'escapism', but more baffling, you seem to think that you are winning some sort of 'fight'... by giving me 'life lessons', and 'smacking' me down.

At what point did I 'presume that my way is the only way'?

At what point did you provide me with evidence that anything I said was wrong?

I made an assertion about how I feel about your OP, in a forum thread... a place designed to allow discussion, and you attack me for it?

I defended my self, and now you call me self-righteous?

You even call yourself a troll... as if this is something to be proud of.

Well, pat yoruself on the back. You've clearly set out to do whatever it was you where trying to do.

You made what you thought was a valid assertion, based upon incorrect assumptions. This is a common failure from people who think they know more then everyone else. You stated my post conveyed some kind of unhealthy perspective when compared to your own "wild new Zealand" way of thinking. You had absolutely no clue of who I was or under what context my post was made. You just assumed and you assumed incorrectly.

Now you should become the bigger man and apologize. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes.
