Hello forum goers!

As you may have guessed I am new around here, I started my trial account yesterday, and although the scale of some of it (ok most of it) blows my mind I m keen to keep exploring EVE.

My question is this....

Is it possible to make enough ISK in a trail account (either 14 or 21 day) to buy a PLEX and so activate my account for free REALISTICALLY!

Aka without grinding 24/7

If not I will have to reconsider my options, but if so could somebody please point me in the right direction....

Hmm sounds like a no because considering im a newbie im not likely to either know the market and how it works or how to (legally) scam...

it is possible, but it would be difficult.
Not saying that time frame is hard to make that much money in, but being so new you don't know the ways to make that amount of money.

Well you could subscribe for a month? Then you'd have 6 weeks under your belt, enough time to know if you'd like a little more. ( Although, if you are still interested after 2 weeks, I think you may have the bug )

Let me put this in a very simple way, if I may. :) First, welcome to Eve Online. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I do.

Next, some basic information:

The cost of a subscription is, I think, $15/month (US, month-to-month, cheaper if you buy more at once).

The minimum wage in the US is $7.25/hour (though many states are higher).

This means that your average minimum wage worker will spend a little over two hours (not counting taxes) to pay for a month's worth of Eve time. If we want to be fair, lets call it four hours after taxes.

A PLEX is/was about 500m ISK in Jita yesterday, I think.

Now, is it possible to make that much ISK in four hours? Sure...

With luck, you could scam or trade your way to the ISK. With luck, you could join a nullsec alliance and be able to mine rare ores in relative peace and maybe you could mine the equivalent of a PLEX in four hours. With luck, you might find a wreck full of all sorts of goodies right outside of Jita.

Are there ways to do it which don't entirely depend on luck? Sure! Are they possible on a trial account? I ... don't think so.


I don't say all of this stuff to come across as a jerk. That's not my intention, at all. My suggestion is to put up the $15 for a month and really try the game out without any "trial restrictions". Try a bunch of different stuff to see what you like to do. If, after a month, you decide the game is worth playing, pay for another month, and then start looking at things you can do in 4 hours or less to make the ISK necessary to pay for your subscription.

After all, if you have to "work" all month to "pay" for your game with ingame currency, is it really worth it? That's the question I'd ask. It seems cheaper, with respect to the time spent, time which we never get back, to pay the fee and just keep playing.

That said, as someone who once asked the same question, I can tell you that I now pay for my game with ISK, but it's taken me awhile to get to this point. It IS possible, eventually. Just make sure you like the game before you head down that path.

So long as you don't use the Character Bazaar or Buddy Program system to do it, you're good. Now scam to your heart's content.


You might try exploration. A good drop in the right HS exploration sites will cover a PLEX in one go (Deadspace Invulns, I'm looking at you). But of course, there's competition.
