ubuntu 12.04 hangs after character selection

just like the subject says, I got the launcher up and running, I hit play, I get to the character selection, hit play again, and I get the little loading bar, it gets to about 3/4 and just hangs, then the game crashes. I am sorry if this has already been covered in here, but I couldn't find anything on it.

did you check the library settings as mentioned in the guides?
i mean the native/build-in settings.

what you describe is what i have when upgrading/patching eve and i forgot to switch the libs back

This. The setting is called "Load Station Environment" or similar. Uncheck it before you select your character. If you like being able to spin your ship in station, you can recheck it after you've successfully loaded, then the next time you undock and redock, you'll have full angular capacity.
